Life & Work with Melody Boone

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melody Boone.

Hi Melody, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve spent much of my life supporting people who strive to positively impact their communities. As a result of doing so, I developed a passion for encouraging people to discover their own purpose and passion. I trained, received certification as a family life trainer and Facilitator-trainer. Because life includes turbulence and triumphs, I established Right the Vision, LLC and Women Who Win Workshops and writer’s projects to help people mesh them together and learn to enjoy their journey (life).

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Naturally, people are guarded and reserved about their lives and what they are willing to explore or share.

Truth and trust are the key ingredients to realizing purpose. Therefore the initial challenge is creating a safe mental, emotional and relational space to begin.

Breaking the ice is a challenge. The ice can consist of pain, abuse, neglect, fear- the tough stuff. Truth and trust are usually buried deep under all that.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a certified relationship and life skills Facilitator, Coach, and Trainer. I’ve been supporting healthy relationships while facilitating workshops. Classes and retreats for couples, youth and families, and leaders for over 18 years. In the past few years, I’ve narrowed the focus of some trainings to women and individual sessions with the intention of offering more self-reflective help. This way, we can spend more time with self-discovery and actualization to help the individual function optimally in union/ community.

I’ve had a man stop me in the grocery and say, thank you for helping me become the man my family needs.

On another occasion a mother and her children approached our table in a restaurant to say thank you for helping us become a happy family.

Neither the man nor the children easily remembered my name, so they called me “the relationship lady” ….. Yes! Mission accomplished!

My technique includes making people feel comfortable right where they are (acceptance) while helping them to discover/develop their purpose and passion. I think the most effective technique is inside the person not a book. I help them to dig it out and use it to their advantage.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Finding a mentor is one of the wisest choices a person can make. Why waste time, energy and resources attempting to figure out what someone else is already perfecting?

I often measure the accomplishments of my work by paying attention to the relationships and bonds that are formed between those who participate. Many of the couples and individuals have connected to others and those relationships have transformed them/ their lives.

I’ve found that there really isn’t anything new under the sun. Somebody is, has been or will go thru similar situations. Someone has, will, or wants to pursue similar goals. Partnership, networking and mentorship help people arrive faster and safer. It can take some of the bumps out of the journey and allow people to enjoy their journeys and shine a light for others to travel.

My advice is to find someone who is doing or has done it and pay attention, ask questions, talk with them and help them. You will find that you are helping yourself at the same time… Sometimes it is okay to double-dip.
