Mia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
How my passion for baking turned into a thriving businessspending time in the kitchen with my grandmother as a child inspired my love for baking and creating new treats. Little did I know that this passion would lead me down the path of entrepreneurship. With the support and encouragement of my community, I dared to dream big.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The challenges of Entrepreneurship: A Personal AccountEntrepreneurship is a challenging journey, and I’ve faced numerous obstacles along the way. There have been countless moments of self-doubt, frustration, and stress that I’ve had to endure. While we always put on a happy face for our customers, the reality behind the scenes is often quite different. We must constantly evaluate our performance, identify areas for improvement, and question whether we’re truly cut out for this demanding job. It’s been a journey of self-discipline, perseverance, and commitment to honing my craft to provide a unique dessert experience for my customers. Not just in terms of taste and presentation but also in terms of overall satisfaction.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
During the day, I work as a Property Associate in the Commercial Property Management field. However, pageantry is where I truly come alive. Having been a part of it since the age of 10, I’ve experienced every aspect of it – from contestant to judge, choreographer to producer, and director. The ability to shape young girls into the best version of themselves brings me immense joy. I’m grateful to have competed in the Miss America Organization, where I received scholarships for school and honed my interview skills, which I’ve found useful in the corporate world. This experience also allowed me to step outside my comfort zone and build an unwavering sense of confidence and self-love, which has opened many doors for me. As the National Director for Pageants “R” Us Productions, I’m now able to help others embark on a similar journey of self-discovery and growth.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Entrepreneurship is not for the faint of heart. It requires an unrelenting drive that can push you through the toughest of times. Whether you’re feeling tired, sad, happy, or ready to throw in the towel, you need to be able to rely on yourself to keep going. While having a support team is great, it’s crucial to be able to carry that support on your own when no one else is around. Whenever I feel like giving up, I remind myself why I started my company and what my ultimate goal is. Without self-discipline, I wouldn’t be where I am today. Writing this interview has reignited my passion and drive to take my business to the next level.
