Today we’d like to introduce you to Miguel Moss.
Hi Miguel , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My passion for fashion began in high school, but my professional journey first took me into collegiate basketball, where I spent over a decade coaching and developing athletes at a high level. Eventually, I felt called to step fully into my creative path and made the decision to pivot into the fashion industry.
After earning my certification from Parsons School of Design, I pursued styling with the same discipline, vision, and competitive drive that shaped my coaching career. Leveraging my background as a former athlete and coach, along with the relationships and access that came with it, I was able to connect with the right people, position myself in the right rooms, and turn a long-held vision into a thriving reality.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The journey hasn’t been without obstacles. Breaking into the fashion industry from a nontraditional background meant having to earn recognition in rooms where my résumé didn’t look like everyone else’s. I had to fight for creative opportunities, prove my eye, and build trust in an industry where access is everything. There were moments of being overlooked, underestimated, and having to create my own doors when none were open — but that same resilience developed through years in competitive sports became my advantage. Every challenge sharpened my vision, strengthened my voice, and pushed me to build a lane of my own.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a stylist and creative director specializing in athlete image development and luxury sport-inspired fashion. With a background as a former college basketball coach and certification from Parsons School of Design, I bring both fashion expertise and a deep understanding of the athlete mindset.
I’m known for elevating athletes into style leaders—crafting looks for tunnel walks, media appearances, and cultural moments that blend luxury, streetwear, and sport. What sets me apart is that I don’t just dress athletes, I help shape their visual identity with intention, strategy, and confidence. I’m most proud of building a strong presence in the industry from a nontraditional path and creating space for athletes to be seen as icons beyond their sport.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The quality most important to my success is faith — both in God and in the path set before me. My faith keeps me grounded, resilient, and focused, especially in an industry that requires patience, perseverance, and belief in your vision before others see it.
Equally important is my ability to genuinely connect with people from all backgrounds. Whether working with athletes, brands, or creative teams, building real trust and understanding allows me to collaborate effectively and bring out the best in everyone involved. That combination of faith, empathy, and connection guides how I work and why I’m able to create meaningful, lasting impact through my work.
