Today we’d like to introduce you to Mylacia Clark
Hi Mylacia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hello my name is My’Lacia, Model name Noir Doux. I am 27 years old with a birthday of 12/31 ( New Year’s Eve). I consider myself a very unique individual and here’s why. My name My’Lacia means soft in Russian. And that’s how I came up with my model name Noir Doux which means soft black in French. It describes me and who I am, a tall 6’0 dark skinned woman. My skin is very soft and melanated, my personality is very soft, I’m soft spoken. I’ve been in my soft girl era since I was a little girl. I am a mother of a 11 year old daughter who is my rock. She grew up with me I used to have regrets in life but now I look at all of my old regrets as life learning lessons. I had my daughter at a very young age, and she’s taught me so much and groomed me into the woman I am today. Since I was a little girl I have always been told I was going to be a model, but of course that’s easier said than done. I battled with insecurity up until I was about 17 years old when all of my features started to fill in and I was able to appreciate how beautiful I was. I was always teased of my complexion which was very hard because kids are cruel. Well that pushed me to be the model I am today looking back on my younger life I didn’t have the confidence I have today. If I could get paid for how many times I’m told how pretty I am a day I’d be super rich by now. I’ve always been told how much I look like a black Barbie doll but I did t see it a couple years ago. I am from Richmond Virginia, and moved to Atlanta a year and some change ago. The reason I moved here was to pursue my modeling career. My passion has not always been modeling my passion was to be a pediatrician, I recently started to take it more serious when I started to get more signs thrown at me as far as modeling and acting. I moved to Atlanta because I was getting asked by so many photographers to do a photoshoot with them, and there was just so much opportunity here then it was back in virginia. So I literally to a leap of faith and moved here and left everything back home it had not been easy. But what obstacles and battles do you know that are easy? I can’t complain though because since I’ve been here I’ve been introduced to many of things and people including artist photographers designers producers etc. and I can’t wait to see how much further I get. I am here to say don’t stop keep pushing in what you believe in no matter how hard life gets keep going. Everything that looks pretty isn’t always pretty and I had to learn that in the modeling industry. I used to think just because my looks I would be able to get whatever I want and it humbled me real fast because that’s not how it always work. I may have all of the features of a beautiful model but if you don’t have the confidence the walk the integrity you’ll never get picked to do anything. It also takes money to make money with that being said it’s ok to invest in yourself to get off the ground.I appreciate the the acknowledgement of voyage ATL Magazine for the recognition. When you think you are not being seen someone is always watching you continue to promote your craft and continue being beautiful.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Moving from virgins to Atlanta has it been very smooth but not too hard either. I was scammed 3 times out of a home when I lived here I was laid off of my full time job so of course that stops the money flow and bills start to get behind so then you spend a lot of time trying to play catch up. And playing catch up can also put you in a bigger hole. But I’m not complaining because I’ve heard some stories worse then mine and I am grateful for what I have,
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a specialized Lab Technician, I’ve always wanted to do something in the medical field since I was a small girl. I was recently laid off from my full time lab Technician job so right now I have been going a little more harder with my modeling career m. I am known for my appearance and helpfulness. Family and friends always call on me for some time of help. Whether it’s technical mentally emotionally hair clothes advice I can go on and on. I am most proud of how I am overcoming my shyness and how my shell is being broken. What sets me apart from others is how quiet and observant I am. I sit back and watch things so I know how to move I think before I react and not a lot of people can do that
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love the fact that Atl is like a black Hollywood and how opportunity it is here
