Life & Work with Nathaniel Roberson of Atlanta, GA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nathaniel Roberson.

Hi Nathaniel, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Thank you for taking interest in me and wanting to learn about my story. I majored in Digital Telecommunications at the University of West Georgia, where I got my first taste of media through managing social media for The Wolf Radio Station. That experience sparked my passion for storytelling and digital engagement, which led me to pursue a Master’s in Marketing and Public Relations at Georgia State University.

During grad school, I completed several internships that helped me refine my skills, and after graduation, I landed a full-time role as a Marketing Coordinator. I worked across industries like healthcare and tech—great experience, but I knew something was missing.

My best friend, an artist named June, had been pursuing music for years, and one day it just clicked: this was where I belonged—marketing and project management in the entertainment industry. Music has always been a passion of mine, but for years it felt like something I could love — just not something I could live. It wasn’t an easy transition, but I stayed persistent and eventually landed an internship at Quality Control Music. That opportunity changed everything. It opened doors, reshaped how I view creativity and strategy, and confirmed that my purpose is helping artists and brands tell stories that connect.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Transitioning into the entertainment industry meant starting completely over. I went from making $75,000 a year to $800 a month as an intern. It was a huge sacrifice, but I trusted that it would pay off — and that God would protect me through it.

Even landing the internship was tough. There aren’t many major music opportunities in Atlanta; most are in New York or L.A., so it took a lot of patience and persistence. I faced plenty of rejections and “no’s,” but I didn’t let that deter me. There were times I struggled both financially and mentally, but I never lost sight of the bigger picture or the light at the end of the tunnel.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a Marketing Project Manager, and I specialize in bringing creative ideas to life through strategy and execution. My work bridges the gap between vision and reality — whether that’s managing campaigns, coordinating rollouts, or helping artists shape their brand identities.

I’m best known for thinking outside the box and for my ability to communicate an artist’s story in a way that feels authentic and impactful. I take pride in being that person who can translate creative chaos into a clear, compelling message that connects with audiences.

What truly sets me apart is my mindset. I never assume I know it all — I’m always eager to learn, grow, and absorb knowledge from everyone around me. Even though my focus is marketing, I love exploring other sides of the industry — from camera lenses and editing software to music laws and production. Understanding those elements makes me a stronger, more well-rounded professional and helps me serve artists on a deeper level.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was quiet and introverted — and honestly, I still am — but I was also hilarious. I couldn’t go a day without laughing or cracking a joke. Ask anyone I went to school with — I was definitely the class clown.

I wasn’t as creative back then as I am today, and I never imagined I’d be doing what I’m doing now. So I always tell people, if you haven’t figured out your passion yet, that’s okay — it’s never too late.

That said, the signs were there. I had a camcorder in middle school and a YouTube channel in high school (it wasn’t very popular, lol). I always wanted my own talk show and loved recording — it gave me the ability to tell stories and control the narrative. Looking back, that was the foundation for everything I do today.
