Today we’d like to introduce you to Nazjé Noir.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey has been anything but linear, but every chapter has shaped who I am.
I served in the U.S. Navy for five years; a chapter that taught me discipline, resilience, and the true meaning of service. But even while in uniform, I felt a pull toward creativity and connection. After completing my service, I took a leap of faith and moved to New York in 2019 to pursue my passion for hairstyling.
That move opened the door to a whole new beginning. I trained at the Aveda Institute, worked behind the chair at Fabio Scalia Salon in SoHo, and began building what would eventually become my own brand. In 2021, I relocated to Atlanta to expand my vision and plant deeper roots. That’s when NLSAW Studio (Nazjé’s Lifestyle and Weaves Studio) truly began to flourish. What started as hairstyling evolved into a mission: to uplift, empower, and help women reclaim their confidence through both beauty and storytelling.
But beyond the chair, I’ve always been a storyteller at heart. I began creating content to document my journey; sharing the highs, the lessons, the lifestyle, and the unwavering faith that’s grounded me. I’ve walked through difficult seasons: abuse, healing, and rebuilding. And through it all, I’ve used my platforms as a space for authenticity, creativity, and empowerment.
Today, I’m a hairstylist, content creator, and entrepreneur who believes in blending purpose with passion. From serving my country to now serving women through self-expression, my journey continues to evolve…and I’m just getting started.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I’ve faced many challenges along the way; personally, professionally, and spiritually. Transitioning from military life into the beauty industry was a huge shift. I went from a highly structured environment to one where I had to carve my own path, build clientele from the ground up, and navigate an entirely new creative space.
On a deeper level, I’ve also had to overcome trauma from an abusive relationship, which left both emotional and physical scars. Healing from that while trying to rebuild my confidence and find my footing in my purpose wasn’t easy. There were moments of doubt, seasons of silence, and a lot of starting over.
Moving to new cities like New York and later Atlanta came with its own set of struggles; financial instability, loneliness, and the pressure of proving myself in competitive spaces. But each obstacle forced me to grow, evolve, and lean more into my faith.
Through it all, I’ve learned that the road doesn’t have to be smooth to be meaningful. The detours, delays, and disappointments were all part of the shaping. I wouldn’t trade them for anything.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At my core, I’m a hairstylist and creative; specializing in natural-looking installs such as traditional sew-ins, quick weaves, and coloring hair extensions. I focus on creating seamless, realistic styles that not only enhance outer beauty but also support the confidence and identity of the woman wearing it.
But what truly sets my work apart is the intentionality behind it. My service experience is rooted in care, comfort, and conversation. It’s not just about doing hair—it’s about heart work. I create a safe, sacred space where women can feel seen, heard, and poured into while also leaving with a flawless install.
I’m known for my attention to detail, my commitment to quality, and my ability to blend lifestyle, beauty, and storytelling into one experience; both behind the chair and online. Whether I’m sharing content, curating looks, or building digital products for aspiring beautypreneurs, everything I do is with purpose.
What I’m most proud of is the way I’ve turned pain into purpose. From serving in the military to surviving abuse to now empowering women through my hands and my story. That’s what keeps me grounded and grateful. I know I’m walking in my calling.
How do you think about happiness?
What makes me happy is peace; genuine, soul-level peace. The kind that comes from living in alignment with who I am, what I believe, and what I’m called to do. Creating makes me happy. Whether I’m behind the chair, editing content, or pouring into a new idea, I feel most alive when I’m building something meaningful.
I also find deep joy in connection, authentic conversations, shared laughter, and moments where people feel seen and safe around me. And honestly, healing makes me happy. Becoming the version of myself I prayed for, especially after all I’ve overcome, is a joy that can’t be faked.
It’s the simple things too… like music in the morning, candles lit while I work, FaceTiming my mom & grandmother, or seeing a client light up after their install. These small moments remind me that happiness doesn’t always have to be loud… it just has to be real.
