Today we’d like to introduce you to Nelson Farfan.
Hi Nelson, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started in the music scene when I was a teenager back in Venezuela. The acoustic guitar was my first instrument, later I picked the electric guitar because I wanted to play all the gold old rock and roll classics. The social/political scenario in Venezuela moved me to the united states when I was 19 years old and a college student at the same time. Music was for me an escape from all the homesickness I was going through during my first couple of years in Atlanta. At first, it was just a hobby but later on, and with the help of some friends I created “Sin Acento” as a way of making music without boundaries that can transmit a message to everyone within the community.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has been a long and slow road. In a country where people have no time, I think the hardest thing to do as a band was getting together for rehearsals and putting some resources to buy equipment.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I focus mostly on playing the bass guitar for my band. Also, I actively collaborate with all the song compositions and production. I take care of the sound engineer part of the rehearsals and gigs along with our producer. I am very proud of the dedication I have given to the project since the beginning and I think my discipline sets me apart from others. Not being a trained musician I had to learn a lot on the way in order for me to be competitive in the industry.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up I was a funny guy that liked to make jokes every day at school but was also very interested in team sports. Extrovert personality, stubborn, and a very chill person in general.
