Life & Work with Nick Chiodo of Canton, GA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nick Chiodo.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Nick Chiodo’s path into the wedding and events industry didn’t begin behind a DJ booth—it began on the dance floor.

Originally trained as a professional dancer, Chiodo spent years performing, hosting, and entertaining at private events before gradually transitioning into DJing full-time. What started as hosting and curating party experiences naturally evolved into a deeper passion for music, technical skill, and the art of DJ performance. Over time, Chiodo immersed himself in the craft—studying mixing, blending, mashups, wordplay, and live transitions that elevate the energy of an event beyond a traditional playlist.

To refine his expertise, Chiodo trained and shadowed some of the top DJs in the country, absorbing best practices in both performance and production. Today, through his company NMC Entertainment, he brings that knowledge to weddings and corporate events with a distinctly elevated approach.

What sets Chiodo apart in a crowded market is his holistic perspective on entertainment. Rather than simply playing music, he designs the full atmosphere of an event—incorporating personalized lightscaping, immersive enhancements, and seamless sound production that transform spaces into curated experiences. His background in dance continues to inform his work, giving him a natural ability to read a room, anticipate crowd energy, and keep dance floors alive throughout the night.

For couples and clients seeking more than a standard wedding DJ, Chiodo’s blend of artistry, technical precision, and performance intuition has positioned him as a premium entertainment professional redefining what modern event entertainment can look like.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t think growth is ever really a smooth road. In my experience, real growth happens when you put yourself in uncomfortable situations. The event industry was especially tough during COVID, like so many others, and that forced a lot of adaptation. Running the business and overseeing every part of it has pushed me outside my comfort zone in many ways—but that challenge has also helped me grow in areas I wasn’t initially strong in.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I see my work less as “providing a service” and more as designing an experience.

At my core, I’m a storyteller through music, energy, and atmosphere. I specialize in crafting moments — how a room feels, how it moves, and how people connect within it. That starts with music, but it goes far beyond simply playing songs. I’m deeply passionate about mixing, blending, mashups, and wordplay — finding unexpected connections between tracks and creating seamless transitions that feel intentional, dynamic, and alive.

My background as a professional dancer plays a huge role in my work. It’s shaped the way I listen, the way I perform, and the way I read a room. I’m constantly observing movement, energy, and emotional flow, and I use that to guide the experience in real time. That’s something you can’t script — it’s instinct, presence, and artistry.

What I’m most proud of is how personalized each experience becomes. No two events feel the same because no two couples, spaces, or audiences are the same. I take pride in designing not just a soundtrack, but an atmosphere — integrating music with thoughtful lighting, production, and pacing to create something immersive and elevated.

What sets me apart is that I approach every event like a creative project rather than a checklist. I’m not just there to keep a timeline moving — I’m there to curate emotion, build energy, and create something that feels unique, memorable, and deeply tied to the people I’m working with. For me, it’s about making people feel something — and that’s what I strive for every time I step behind the booth.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I’m a nerd for sure– so I listen to all types of podcasts and other learning materials for the industry. DJs like Nick Spinelli provide a great wedding DJ show and framework for all different aspects of the wedding entertainment experience. His company, SCE Event Group, has provided a lot of insight — both in learning material and in-person during my journey of the wedding space.

Other DJs like Brian B and Joe Bunn provide great insight into the business aspects of the industry. While, in my opinion, not the strongest DJs as far as technical skills– they provide great experiences through their advanced knowledge of professional formalities during the wedding and deep dives into music.

Last, but not least, lighting makes so much difference during the reception or during a corporate event. And providing a lighting experience more similar to a production-style concert, as opposed to Spencer’s Gifts (like most mobile DJs), really helps to set us apart.
