Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole West.
Hi Nicole, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am a very creative person in my core and after becoming a momma I took many years away from work to focus on my children… after many years, I started to dabble in Interior Design again by answering an ad on Nextdoor. That client’s project started small but ended with a complete kitchen remodel as well as other things throughout her home…my business grew organically all based on referrals from that one project and here I am today still a mom first but now a mom with an interior design company.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I am creative but I am also a planner…I never planned to have Nicole West Interiors…I have just let this become what it has day by day. That has been hard for me to have not planned it all out prior to launching it.
I also have not worked AND been a mom before. The juggle of that is a huge adjustment. My oldest son has special needs so it adds a huge extra layer of responsibility to my plate as a mother.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an interior designer that helps people on any scale of project they may need. From new builds, exterior selections, complete interior renovations, holiday decor installation, staging properties to prepare for sale all the way down to something simple like changing out bedding and art.
I have clients locally as well as nationally.
One thing I pride myself in is being able to listen to what each family loves…I don’t have only one style that I do – my goal is listen to what you love and lead you down the road to accomplish a beautiful home that YOU love but that is also in line with what is appropriate from a design perspective.
I am extremely respectful of budget and pride myself in finding ways to save where we can so money can be allocated to the things that we can’t skimp on (like labor for an electrician for example).
Most importantly, I like to have fun -my clients and I are going to have a long relationship thru the process of designing. Building a trusting relationship is important to me. A lot of my clients become my dear friends thru the process and I LOVE that about what I do.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I have lived a lot of places and feel like that has helped me in my ability to adapt to all types of personalities and design styles. From Southern California to Texas, North Carolina to Chicago and back to Georgia again, I have seen and met a lot of people in all these places.
I rode horses growing up and have always loved the outdoors and I love looking for color and texture inspiration in nature. I was taught thru my parents and my experience as an equestrian to do what it takes to get the job done. I love diving in and getting my hands in the project and doing things myself and I think this comes from my time at the barn as a child. You will see me with my toolbox at all my jobs!
