Today we’d like to introduce you to Noah Star.
Hi Noah, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Star Gravity Dance Company was founded in 2017. The studio opened in February 2017 in North Miami Beach, FL with the purpose to build confidence in people who wanted to learn how to dance. Before opening the studio, I started choreographing sweet sixteens at parks.
The purpose of opening my studio was to have a safe place to teach others and build clientele. The Company’s philosophy is “anything impossible is possible as long as you try.” This philosophy has opened doors for the studio to elevate and grow personally and professionally.
Because of word of mouth, Star Gravity began to choreograph sweet sixteens, quinces, fashion shows, and pageants. These events opened additional opportunities to be featured in music videos with the likes of Nastya Nass, Sitorock, and Tonio Skits.
During the growth of the company, Star Gravity added twerking and pole dancing to my repertoire which has helped gain national notoriety. Our clients come from as far as California. Many of my clients are from outside the state of Florida. I have hosted events for bridal showers, birthday parties, and fundraising events for breast cancer and LGBTQ+ Organizations.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
No, it has not been a smooth journey due to the lack of support from many who did not believe in our vision. There were many doors and opportunities that did not come to fruition and quitting was not an option so Star Gravity had to create its own path to be successful.
Because I was born with a vision impairment, it pushed me to strive to be successful in my career. As with every other industry that was affected by Covid-19, I had additional challenges because of my vision. A year ago while attending an event, I lost vision in one eye and had to have emergency surgery. This caused an additional interruption in my ability to have the rigorous schedule that I had pre-pandemic.
Since the surgeries, the business has begun to pick up pre-pandemic. We have been scheduling numerous sessions and taking on new clients and events.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Noah Star is a creative entertainer. I don’t duplicate what others have done which makes me unique and sets me apart from others in the industry.
Because of my uniqueness, many travelers from all over the US learn from me. Although I specialize in twerking, I incorporate other moves into my choreography when I perform and teach.
I’m most proud of the fact that many come from far and near to learn what I do which I did not expect to happen. In spite of being overlooked for other dance opportunities that would have put me on an international stage, I am still being recognized by people who are inspired by my craft.
I am set apart from others because I don’t believe that failure is an option. I choose to be successful and not give up because of obstacles.
