Today we’d like to introduce you to Olivia Rodriguez.
Hi Olivia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I picked up photography after my mother gifted me my first camera for my 18th birthday. I had always been interested in photography and arts and during quarantine, I felt the need to pick up a new hobby to keep my creativity alive and to feel like myself again after COVID. I started taking pictures of my dog, and then I took photos of my friends to build skills and get used to my camera. It gradually took off to what it is now. I booked my very first wedding the following year in June and I have loved doing weddings and capturing love ever since then.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has not exactly been easy. I was really challenged with my journey of trying to grow. The community is not very inviting to beginners and that was really hard because I felt as if no one wanted to help me, I had to learn everything on my own. I self-taught myself all the ins and outs of photography and did a lot of research on camera settings, lighting, posing, clientele, etc. I had to learn the hard way, I had to mess up to learn. It was definitely not easy, but I’m glad that it happened because it made me more independent confident, and a better photographer in the end.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a wedding photographer based in North Georgia, known for capturing intimate details of the couple’s love. I am most proud of how far I have come in a short amount of time. I started my photography in June 2020 and I booked my first wedding without prior wedding experience that following year in June 2021. It has been a crazy ride and I am so thankful for all the opportunities I have been given and I am most thankful for all the amazing clients I have made throughout the way.
What sets me apart from the others is I try to really make that connection with my clients. I love getting to know people, especially couples. I want to get to know your love story and all of your favorite things about each other. That is what makes me happy. And capturing those memories for my amazing couples truly is why I do what I do. I love getting to know them and connecting with them because I am not just a vendor, I am in the end a friend!
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something interesting most people don’t know about me is that I am in college studying to be an Interior Designer and I am in my last semester of school and my hope is to one day incorporate my photography and design into one and work my dream job!
