Life & Work with Olympia Kent of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Olympia Kent

Hi Olympia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
From Passion to Prestige: The Journey of Olympia Kent

Olympia Kent’s career in the beauty industry began at just 10 years old, fueled by her love for coloring and drawing. By 13, she was working as a shampoo girl in a salon, where she learned the art of eyebrow arching and shaping. Recognizing her talent early, she used these skills to build a clientele while still in high school.

Determined to expand her knowledge, Olympia pursued studies at Atlanta Technical College while completing high school. However, she didn’t find the direction she was looking for at the time. Years later, her passion reignited, leading her to The Gwynnis Mosby Makeup Academy in Tucker, GA, where she received professional training in makeup artistry.

At the Academy, Olympia gained hands-on experience in production makeup, special effects, prosthetics, runway, and bridal makeup. Under the mentorship of Gwynnis Mosby—an industry veteran with over three decades of experience—Olympia honed her craft and prepared for a thriving career in the beauty industry.

Since graduating, Olympia has established herself as a sought-after professional makeup artist, securing a position with BVFW (botque Fashion Week) and making her mark in film and television. She has worked as a Makeup Artist and Department Head on more than 15 independent films, earning 22 credits and cementing her status as the “Tubi Queen.” Her expertise has been recognized in major publications, including a cover feature in In The City Magazine and a spotlight in Sheen Magazine.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road to success has not been smooth. The beauty and entertainment industry is temperamental, demanding resilience and a tough skin. Olympia had to navigate the industry largely on her own, as guidance and mentorship were not always readily available. No one hands you the answers—you have to know how to find them yourself. Along the way, she faced challenges such as working without pay, paying her dues, and having people take advantage of her lack of industry knowledge early on. These experiences, while difficult, became valuable lessons that helped shape her into the seasoned professional she is today.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
