Life & Work with Orlando Hopson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Orlando Hopson.

Hi Orlando, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m originally from Cleveland, Ohio I moved to Atlanta about a month ago from Dallas, TX where I’ve been for the last five years. “The Way” I got started was in High School actually I had a mentor who is still one of my mentors (Mike Russell) who called me one day when I moved to Dallas in 2019 and said to me “O don’t forget you are a natural people person and you connect people because that’s your heart don’t forget that or lose it!!” So I made sure I continued to do that plus serve people in a real way in every position that I hold without holding back because my connections are for my community & my people.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been smooth but it has been profound! One of the mottos I live by is “I don’t have bad days I have learning days.” The method behind that is don’t let the day be bad because it didn’t go your way learn from it so you can make it better tomorrow.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I hold a couple of different titles Chief of Staff, Chief of Operations, Head of Guest Services/Experience and I also do Executive Protection. The title I want to be known for is THE CONNECTOR because in all of my roles my purpose is to connect people with the right opportunity, the right service, the right vibe and the right protection. I’m known for being a problem solver & having a heart for people. The thing I’m most proud of is the impact I’ve been able to have on the people around me and the opportunities I’ve been able to connect others to through my work! My work ethic, my OCD lol and my discipline sets me apart from others in my fields.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
When finding a mentor you can have more than one because they teach you things the one tip I will say is don’t be afraid to ask someone to be your mentor is you feel led to ask but also be prepared that they will give it to you straight even when it hurts because they want to see you be the best.

When it comes to networking don’t underestimate who you meet you might not need them yourself but someone you know might.
