Today we’d like to introduce you to Pinique Singleton.
Hi Pinique, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
First, let me start by saying thank y’all so much for reaching out to me to do a follow-up story. When y’all did the first one, I was almost 2 years into my entrepreneurship journey. That was about a year and a half ago. A lot has changed since then. But here’s how it all started… I got my first camera in August of 2018 and I started out just taking photos here and there. Then, in February of 2019, I invested in myself by enrolling in BrandonShotMe’s Shooters Camp so I could really learn how to use my camera and build a business with it. After completing Shooters Camp in March of 2019, I ended up becoming Brandon’s co-instructor for the next round of Shooters Camp. And I’ve been teaching alongside of him ever since. After completing Shooters Camp, I also ended up quitting my job as an Underwriter at Wells Fargo in North Carolina and moving to Atlanta to pursue full-time entrepreneurship. That was one of the BEST decisions I’ve ever made! Fast forward to today… Brandon and I are still teaching Shooters Camp and we’ve also added a higher-ticket mentorship called the Shooters Inner Circle.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Surprisingly… Yes. It’s actually been a pretty smooth journey. I know many people talk about how hard entrepreneurship can be. But honestly, that’s not my story. I attribute the smoothness of my journey to linking with a mentor early in my entrepreneurship career and being coachable.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
If you would have asked me that three years ago when I first started as a full-time entrepreneur, I would’ve told you I’m a videographer who works with business owners to create content that will allow them to leverage their social media to gain clients and grow their businesses. However, now, my role has changed a bit. My primary focus is still working with business owners. However, I very rarely pick up a camera and actually do the shooting anymore. I have one client who I work with on a monthly basis. But aside from that, my main role is teaching, mentoring, and coaching through our 2 programs, Shooters Camp and the Shooters Inner Circle. I’m also the Operations Manager for the Shooters Agency, where I help to coordinate and manage Shooters (photographers and videographers) for larger events such as business workshops, conferences and conventions. These are the types of events that we specialize in. From our matching attire to our professionalism, to our signature same-day edits, we are unmatched when it comes to covering business events! In addition to all of that, I’m happy to announce that I just started a nonprofit organization where one of our main programs will be a youth Shooters Camp. It’s always been important to me to give back to the community and expose young people to opportunities that I didn’t know existed when I was their age.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Great question! There’s probably a lot of advice I could give to someone who is just beginning their entrepreneurship journey. But I’ll narrow it down to 3 things. I think one of the most important pieces of advice I have, is to be willing to change your mindset. Mindset is the main thing that holds people back. Some ways to do that are by reading books and changing the circle of people you spend time with. My next piece of advice is pay for a coach or mentor and then be coachable and actually do what they say. The third thing I’d say to a new entrepreneur is you wanna start with your end goal in mind and then develop a plan to reach it. However, you don’t want to spend so much time planning that you never actually get started. You don’t have to know EVERYTHING in the beginning. It’s ok to learn some of it as you go. The important thing it to GET STARTED!
