Today we’d like to introduce you to Renata Brown.
Renata, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Renata Brown, and my passion for the arts runs deep within me, ignited by my own journey as an artist. As the publisher of two online magazines,DreamSpire Books and EM-spire Magazone. I strive to cultivate platforms that celebrate creativity in different realms. A-spire is dedicated to Arts and Entertainment, while EM-spire caters to Entrepreneurs and Motivators, reflecting my belief in the power of both artistic expression and entrepreneurial spirit. We also curate and arts and entertainment platform DreamSpire TV. Our latest platform is Black OUR Street and ecosystem for Black businesses
Beyond publishing, I am the driving force behind GANSPA (Gifted and Neo-Soul & Poetry Award) (2014-2017), an initiative close to my heart, aiming to honor excellence in the arts while raising awareness about Sickle Cell Anemia. This cause is deeply personal to me, as my own daughter battled this illness before tragically losing her life to its complications.
My artistic journey began at a tender age, as I delved into poetry at just eight years old. Over the years, my creative endeavors expanded to include music, visual arts, motivational speaking, and more. In 2010, I proudly debuted my self-published poem, ‘Simply Life Is A Poem,’ which received acclaim from critics and readers alike. My words have found their way into various anthologies, and I’ve had the privilege of sharing my story on numerous radio and television platforms.
For me, artistry is not merely a pastime—it’s a calling, a ministry, a way of life. Guided by the belief that creativity has the power to heal and inspire, I’ve dedicated myself to helping others unlock their creative potential.
My academic pursuits, including a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and a certification in graphic design from Kennesaw State University of Georgia, have equipped me with the skills to further my mission. Additionally, my role as Marketing and Advertising Director for the Hopewell Baptist Church Drama Guild has allowed me to merge my passion for creativity with community service.
In every facet of my life, whether as an artist, entrepreneur, or advocate, I strive to leave a lasting impact, weaving a tapestry of hope and inspiration through the artistry that defines me.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My journey has been marked by both triumphs and tribulations. Becoming a parent at the age of 14 thrust me into adulthood prematurely, and the subsequent diagnosis of my daughter with sickle cell anemia brought unimaginable challenges. Yet, through it all, I’ve remained resilient, harnessing the transformative power of art to navigate life’s highs and lows.
I know that she would be proud of me today and is part of the inspiration for why I continue to strive for excellence and provide platforms where people can be seen and heard. My 2019 book “Things I Learned While Packing chronicles my journey, it’s second edition will be released in early Summer.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a graphic and web designer by trade and have obtained certification in both. I am also an author and visual artist. My art has been featured in galleries and I have participated in such shows as Chocolate and Art. All of my platforms are an extension of my creativity. I’ve often been dubbed the next Oprah Winfrey, but the title I like is the Collaboration Goddess. I bring people together to get them seen, but most importantly heard.
What were you like growing up?
I was an avid reader. I started singing in a choir at age four and writing poetry at age eight. I excelled in grade school, my IQ is well over 100 in the near genius level. I think I have lost a couple of brain cells since then…lol
