Life & Work with Robert Williams

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert Williams.

Robert, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I grew up in Jacksonville, FL for a lot of my child leading into adulthood. I come from a military family. I came to Atlanta to finish up college at Georgia State University with my degree in film and media. I’m an actor, dancer, writer, and aspiring director. I want to perform and tell stories that can touch people.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Nah, it hasn’t always been smooth. I’ve had to deal with crazy situations while living in downtown, whether that be getting my car broken into, dealing with a prostitutes, or running into crazy homeless people. Also just the college life, in general, can be very hard. I struggled with a lot of mental health issues when I first moved here but my faith and trust in God is what got me through the tough times. One thing I’ve learned about living in Atlanta is it definitely can humble you.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
A lot of people primarily know or think of me as a director but I’m actually an actor and dancer first. I have been acting and dancing since middle school. I took a break from acting and dancing to pursue behind-the-camera work in college. But to be honest going to school for film made my love and passion for performing grow even more. I’m honestly most proud of when I got to perform in front of 2500 people back in high school for a dance competition. Even though we didn’t win the competition, I got to experience a moment with my teammates and coaches that I’ll never forget. What sets me apart from others is my energy I bring. People say they always love the energy I bring to any projects I work on. I’m always doing my best to be the best I can be when I’m working on anything.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
An app that helps me do my best in life is the Bible app without question. I can always get a word from there. A podcast that I listen to that helps me career-wise is “In The Envelope” it’s an actor’s podcast.
