Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha LaCroix.
Hi Samantha, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I moved to Atlanta at the height of COVID in Nov of 2020 with my kids, pets and a virtual music teaching job, knowing no one but our realtor in Atlanta. I am now living the dream of being a full-time actor. I have leading and supporting roles in several non-union short films, feature films, proofs of concept, pilots and web series, many of which are still in production. I’ve also shot 15 commercials, two music videos and a South Korean infomercial. I also work as background, featured background, PA and stand-in on many of the major series and films that are shooting in Atlanta. I’m very excited to make my film directing debut in the fall with a full-length independent feature film with a very important message and gripping story.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I think everything in my life has been leading up to this point, and now I’m finally ready to go for it! I have received a lot of training over the years – Master’s in Piano Performance, opera singer, lots of theater and directing training, -and have passed it on as a theater and music teacher to kids of all ages from Pre-k to Highschool for years.
But now it’s finally my time to put all this training and experience towards my own career, and it feels amazing to do so.
On a personal level, I have been blessed with two unbelievably amazing kids whom I love more than anything in this world. They are with me now, but are soon ready to start flying themselves, which frees me up to pursue my dreams. My daughter actually works on set with me many days, and I feel so lucky and blessed to go on this journey beside her. My son is forging a different path, and I am thrilled for him as well. On a personal note, I also did get divorced before moving here and am now able to find myself again, -who I truly am and what makes me happy and fulfilled,- and currently, this is it!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am honestly excited about every single project I have had the privilege to work on and am currently working on, as each teaches me new things about the craft of acting and filmmaking, brings me new friends, new experiences and helps me grow. I truly love doing what I’m doing and want to just continue learning and growing and becoming the best actor, director and filmmaker I can be.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
I only get one? I grew up in Vienna, Austria in the middle of Europe and had a horse! It was a beautiful place to live, and we got to travel a lot as it was such a small country that if you drove just three hours in any direction, you would be somewhere else.
