Today we’d like to introduce you to Savy The Model.
Hi Savy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Beautiful as it may seem, it’s all a process. Life as a child, I was very optimistic yet quiet. I came out of my shell with a heart for pageants and tearas. I got the dress, I got to walk on stage and compete with other little girls. I said to myself, wait this is not it! There has to be more out here than this to win a trophy. For a while, I was focused on winning until I did my first photoshoot in 2009. It was a really basic Shoot, didn’t think too much of it. There I paused and started to model for a small clothing store and it went so well I got personal paid bookings just from posting different outfits marketing the store. Then ‘Boom’ it happened. I met a guy and he seen a sparkle in my eye for him so he asked me to give up modeling, basically it’s me or him. Silly puppy love, choose the guy.
At that point, I buried my ideas I buried my face. I should have known that was the first sign of control because nothing that’s genuine will make you choose. As time went on things got physically hard for me from, bruises, to pots to the face, to getting pushed out of a moving car to getting accused of everything you can think of. I came to my senses in 2019; we part ways and I’ve touched the ground running back to my career ever since then. I was 109 pounds going back into modeling in 2019. At this time, I am working around my scars and taking the pictures only with my good side when at first, my face was literally perfect. This took my place in my life and not only I learn to forgive but I learned to push and never give up and to never compare yourself to another one success. My strength to gain my personal image back and stand in front of a camera again and to keep pushing through was signs that my internal desire didn’t give up I had to push forward… My pain was my strength and now I live to proclaim freedom of the mind and spirit through the process of allow my fullest potential to reach every aspect that I could possibly touch from, Photoshoot, Runway, Mentorship, Model Coach and more…I asked my self one day are you going to keep going and I said to myself straight to the top. Not only did I use my pain as a source to heal and unlock doors that I never knew I had the key to. Things to success (Honesty, Integrity, Humbleness and how you treat those around you. Most importantly, I met someone who allowed me to be myself and believed in me. I just didn’t think there was anything left out here after going through so bad but the universe said something different… The universe will push out what you give into it. I choose success and daily growth.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The balance of life through you curve balls to catch them and or let them hit the ground. Being a Mother, Mentor, and many other hats!! Sometimes the pressure of Epilepsy has seems to be the biggest barrier in my life. This is the only thing that will put me in a place to where I lack things in areas where to I lose memory. I can’t do a photoshoot at times because the Led light might set off my seizures. And it’ put me at a place to strengthen my prayer life. I would pray every time I had photoshoot or any event with certain types of light. Hoping I don’t have a seizure. Epilepsy has changed my life and at times, it tries to claim me and my destiny, all I hear is you have to stay alive, focused and centered. Thanks to this day, they are not as bad and I’m in the camera even more.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My work life 9 to 5 as a Home Loan processor. Can be very boring so besides that, I specialize in Custom Carnival Festival pieces, I also specialize in Model coaching and a mentorship. I am known as very straightforward person who has a heart of gold. I am also known as one of the greatest Model coaches in my city and professional model. I have some really proud moments that took place in my life… To come out of depression and the identity crisis after my bad break up after giving up on myself and my dream. I never once turned my back completely on who I knew I was. Which allowed me to never forget and Always turn Back to the things that mattered the most without caring what anyone says. One of the biggest things that sets me apart is from Possessing Empathy and Self-Awareness, Assertive and straight done.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success is an internal accomplishment it can be labeled on a lot of things due to there being so many ways to be successful. You have to maintain to keep a balance between home, work and do other things you have to do. Keep you advanced at a level that you are always one step ahead.
