Today we’d like to introduce you to Shabae Lawrence.
Hi Shabae, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Well, I started my business just by stepping out on faith. I had recently left my previous job and decided I wanted to work for myself. I had to sit and think which one of my skills I was going to utilize to start an effective business. I have a deep passion for caring for others, and I have over ten years of experience in caretaking. I decided to start a daycare in the comfort of my home. I went out and gathered the tools I would need to run my business, and I started branding myself. I got to where I am today by the grace of God and by keeping faith that my business would reach my targeted audience.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road lol, but I must say I am learning ways to make things smoother. Some of the struggles I’ve come across are simply within myself, such as organization sometimes and time management. Once I master these skills, I feel everything will be great.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I run an in-home daycare providing care to children. We learn and grow together at my place of business. I’m most proud of the level of patience I’ve endured on this journey, as I do have two children of my own. I recall a few times chanting, “I could never be a teacher. This is not for me,” as I sat down and helped my daughter with homework. Lol, Now I help with homework, introduce new teachings to the children, and also nurture them as if they are my own. What sets me apart from everyone else is my unique personality and the genuine heart and love I pour into others. I enjoy seeing and making people happy, and for that, I will forever be blessed.
