Today we’d like to introduce you to Shae Shakur.

Hi Shae, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
The thought of Urban Beauty Avenue came to mind when I was a teenager year in 2015. Then, I lacked focus, but I loved talking about my business and starting one. It wasn’t until four years later, I decided to actually take action. I was no longer a teen, I was now an adult and also a mother. Once I gave birth to my daughter, I knew I would want my daughter to go after everything that she wants in life. With me wanting that for my child, I decided that it was time for me to actually try my hand at accomplishing my dream.. Enough talking about it, let’s put in that work! I studied marketing strategies, tried many formula’s, until it was time that I actually launched. It took a lot of self discipline, dedication, fails, and then some for me to get where I’m at today. However, I’m only getting started..

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road, however that’s the beauty in starting from the ground up. It makes you appreciate everything once you reach that level of content with your business. Some struggles that i faced was trying to figure out how to actually market my business to reach my target audience, and also feeling defeated. Which i feel like almost every entrepreneur been through. A lot of times I felt defeated because I would have a slow week of sales, and website attraction. Seeing your competitors getting sales was also discouraging. I always remind myself that my journey is different from theirs, and to embrace my journey. The good and the bad.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Before my business, I had an great following on youtube when I was a teen to an adult, under “Shae Shakur”. I branded myself as the Urban Goddess. I was an content creator, that did beauty videos, story times, and more. My niche was mainly towards hair beauty videos. I specialized in editing, grasping my audience attention by my modern millennial flare, with my 90s old school soul. I’m proud of getting a following of 15k+ subscribers on my own, gaining attention from big youtubers, and also doing everything on my own. Editing, providing my equipment and more. What set’s me a part from others is my style, me being young but being so intertwined with Urban Pop Culture. I’m able to attract an older audience and people who are like me. My personality and content is so infectious, that I believe that people can’t help but be drawn towards me.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory will have to be always being excited about watching 106 & Park, and pretending to be in a music group. Good times…
