Hi Shamya, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Shamya Wilson. I’m 19 years old, originally from Chicago, IL, and now based in Georgia. Creativity has always been second nature to me—whether I was planning parties, organizing classrooms just for the fun of it, or designing graphics for people before I even fully knew what I was doing.
Throughout high school, I was the go-to person for all things creative. I was also a part of a club called the Black Student Union, where I created event flyers and helped bring our ideas to life visually. That experience, along with working with small businesses, helped me realize how much I love turning visions into real, impactful designs.
The concept for YaGraphix came to me during a lunch break—I didn’t have a name yet, but I had a vision. I spent that time writing out my prices, policies, and sketching out what I wanted this brand to be. I never planned to run a business, but once the idea clicked, I knew I had to bring it to life.
Since then, YaGraphix has had the opportunity to work with a growing list of clients. I’m now on my way to graphic design school to sharpen my skills and take things to the next level. YaGraphix is always open to new clients, new ideas, and new ways to grow.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One thing a lot of people don’t realize is that for your business to truly be successful, you have to personally align yourself with success. Running YaGraphix has taught me so much about myself—it’s pushed me to grow, helped me heal, and reminded me that the journey is just as important as the destination.
One of the biggest challenges has been staying consistent, especially during times when I don’t have a lot of clients. It’s easy to get discouraged, but I’ve learned that if I keep showing up, keep putting in the work, and continue being great, then greatness will eventually follow. It’s a process, but I believe in the vision and I believe in myself.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
YaGraphix—“where we turn blank spaces into bold graphix”—is more than just a design brand; it’s a creative experience. I’m a graphic designer who specializes in advertising and branding for businesses. What I’m most known for is my bold, artistic, and uniquely creative design style. I don’t just create graphics—I create visuals that speak, stand out, and tell a story.
One thing I’m incredibly proud of is the boldness and color of my brand. YaGraphix represents me fully—vibrant, confident, and full of personality. It’s always been important to me that my brand aligns with who I am, and I believe that truly shines through in everything I create.
What sets me apart is my creativity. It’s not something that can be copied or recreated—it’s uniquely mine. While there are many graphic designers out there, working with me means experiencing love, passion, and intention in every design. I don’t just design for your business—I design with it, and I pour everything I have into every project.
How do you think about happiness?
What makes me happy is togetherness. Being around people I love brings me a special kind of peace and inspiration. There’s something powerful about being in spaces where everyone is comfortable, laughing, and just authentically being themselves. That kind of energy lights a spark in me, and not long after that inspiration hits, creative ideas start flowing.
Being around different types of people, hearing their stories, and just feeling that genuine joy—it fills my heart. It motivates me to show up as my true self and pour that same energy into everything I create. My creativity isn’t just fueled by solitude—it’s deeply connected to the moments of connection, love, and shared energy.
