Life & Work with Shari Perkins

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shari Perkins.

Hi Shari, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story begins in a small town in Mississippi where I was born. The small-town experience supported my determination to embrace the unique me. Soon after that realization, I begin to tap into my creativity. During my adolescence and early teen years, I knew that I was a big fish in a small pond, and I wanted my spirit and talents to reach many more people than just those in my small circle. At age 21, I moved to Atlanta, GA with $600 and a dream, and now at age 26 I have reached so many goals that I set for myself to include growing my personal brand “LuxxShari”, growing my business theluxxurycollection.com and furthering my education in order to adequately help my peers market their brands and businesses.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The road has not been smooth whatsoever. The beginning of my journey in this city was a challenge. I made a lot of “new to Atlanta mistakes” that cost me unnecessary headaches, such as getting my car towed, befriending the wrong people, and a plethora of other mistakes someone new to this city could make. I learned from those mistakes and applied my knowledge and tools to the next stage of my life. Now, I can say the L’s I took in the past were actually lessons and blessings that have made me the woman, entrepreneur, friend and business partner I am today.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Currently, I am a full-time pediatric claims specialist, a serial entrepreneur, a content creator, a freelance makeup artist, a brand manager and a Marketing specialist. I am most proud of the content that I create for my personal brand, my business, and for other brands as well. I enjoy photography, photo editing, videography, video editing, and advertising. Creating content makes me proud because I feel as though I am offering my gifts to the world, and I feel supercharged with a complete a project.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Stay consistent. Things change and people change, but you and your goals should remain a priority in your own life. Don’t let people try to deter you from what you love. And don’t let other people’s success stunt your growth.
