Today, we’d like to introduce you to Shaun Sinclair.
Hi Shaun, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my entertainment journey years ago as a rapper. I began rapping at just 14 years old. Had my own record label at 19 (while serving in the military). Years later, I found myself incarcerated with nothing but time on my hands and decided to write the story of my life.
That story became the first book I ever wrote, entitled “Street Rap”. I went on to write 10 more books and signed a book deal before I left prison. I founded my company, Pen 2 Pen Multimedia, to release my books, and later converted it into an author services company. To date, we have published over 140 books from other authors.
I founded my company, Pen 2 Pen Films, to turn my books into movies. I produced and directed my documentary, “Behind the Pen,” in 2018 and then went on to write, produce, and direct my first feature film, “The Setup,” in 2020.
I directed and produced three other films before writing, producing, and directing my first series, “Sex Mogul,” based on one of my books. I am currently producing several films now.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story. Has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
This hasn’t been an easy road at all. Some of the struggles were finding a work/life balance, funding, and sacrificing time.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a WRITER, first and foremost, and everything else comes after that.
My writing is what I’m most known for. I’m most proud of my ability to teach others how to write as well.
What sets me apart is the ability to write AND direct.
How do you define success?
Success is freedom. Freedom to not have to depend on anyone outside of yourself for your livelihood.
Freedom to travel, rest, and spend time with your family.
