Life & Work with Splash

Today we’d like to introduce you to Splash.

Hi Splash, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was born in Indianapolis and at a young age, I always knew I wanted to be involved in music or the entertainment industry. When I was 12 due to some unfortunate circumstances I ended up having to move to Cozumel Mexico with my grandparents. It was a difficult adjustment at first but looking back those were some of the best years of my life, I really learned who I wanted to be at such a young age. After I graduated high school I attended college for only a brief semester and quickly realized that it wasn’t for me and I wasn’t sure what I was going to do career-wise. One day my friend Andy came over and was talking about making beats, going to school for music production, and showing me the beats he had made. I started making beats on my phone with garage band and a month after that I bought a computer and fl studio and I was making beats every day studying the goats metro south side and lex Luger. Fast forward to a year, my cousin sky who also makes beats came out with me to Atlanta to meet with the baby coach at his studio. After that day I knew I could really make producing an actual career. My friend Kam and I ended up moving out to Vegas last year to network and really take our careers to the next level. Soon after that, we met a lot of talented engineers, artists and producers over at Studio 77 in Vegas. The rest is history.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Before I was able to make a living off selling beats I was just working a dead-end job barely even making ends meet at all, Most of the time I would work from 3AM to 3PM then head straight to the studio until 2am and then go back to work.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
When you hear the 808 rolls and how the hi-hats bounce that’s how you know splash did the beat. I can make any type of beat imaginable but I’m known for trap and Detroit beats, those are also the ones I enjoy making the most. I’m most proud of the placements I have and all the progress I’ve made and all the artists I’ve been able to work with me and Rico Recklezz got some heat on the way. I don’t have any plaques yet but I know that will change this year.
