Today we’d like to introduce you to Stevie Miles.
Hi Stevie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Well it’s hard to say, my 1st performance was in Purgatory at The old Masquerade with Urban Chaos ENT (sold out show) I believe i was 16 at the time. I grew up with musicians and always had a passion for knowledge in the industry. Growing up I played multiple instruments however, somewhere down the road i really got into Hip-hop and lyricism and strayed away from instruments due to the frustration i faced while trying to get a band/project together. I grew up in a small town so there wasn’t a lot of kids my age with similar interest. moving forward I got a wild hair up my ass and decided i wanted to try my luck with rap and hip-hop. Long-story short. I talked my parents into moving us closer to the city so i could pursue a better avenue with my music. I felt if i was closer to the city I could potentially meet people with similar interest. It didn’t take long before I was introduced to the Atlanta Underground scene through mutual friends who acknowledged my ability to rap. I was introduced to Justin V aka “Fatboi” of Urban Chaos Ent in 2010. A solid promoter who shared the same passion and love for the Underground music scene as i did. Over the years this man single handedly helped me push my boundaries and took me under his wing while also providing me with show opportunities I could of only dreamed about. From performing alongside and opening for acts such as Tech N9ne, Juicy J, Kottonmouth Kings, Insane Clown Posse, Snow The Product etc. the list goes on! a few national tours & a few DIY runs under my belt by this time as well. Fast forward to 2016 I forged my own movement under the name NoClass ATL & started helping my local community with show bookings, touring etc. I stayed consistent until 2020 when My cousin Nick Freddy invited me to his house for dinner. After a few conversations we ended up discussing our individual music careers and our accomplishments. Eventually we ended up asking ourselves “Yo, Why have we never collaborated on a song”? “We should change that!” Fast forward to 2021 and we had official formed our Band $alamanderX with our 1st single “Ho,ASK!” At first we had planned on making this a digital project but over time it turned into a full roster. It took some time to get everything off the ground. by 2024 we officially hit the local scene as a full time band and hit the ground running. Our debut show was with Dropout Kings then we hit mainstage at The Gathering Of the Juggalos with Static-X , Kim Dracula, ICP & more. since then we have been relentless with constantly pushing ourselves as we continue to create waves around our music.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Knowledge is power in my opinion. Years of trial & error have taught us allot along the way & has saved us countless heachaes. $alamanderX is more of a grandmaster project. We all come from different lanes of music, Influences etc. so being able to bounce off of each other has been a blessing to say the least. I wouldn’t say it’s been a smooth road but we have each others backs through thick & thin. I would say most of our struggles are time restraints. Meeting deadlines or goals that we set for ourselves can be challenging at times when you include your personal life, work etc into the mix. At the end of the day we all share a common goal & we see the potential that lies ahead so no matter the obstacles in front of us we always find a way to push forward as a unit.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Drive, When you’re passionate about something you don’t take it lightly. I tend to give 120% in anything I do. I’m willing to make sacrifices and take chances when others aren’t. As far as work I recently retired as a head Chef (I won’t mention the name) and started pushing music full time while operating a small family business on the side so I could have freedom over my schedule.
I take the good and the bad as valuable lessons & learn from my mistakes. I think that’s what I pride myself in most.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
This is a question I honestly don’t have an answer for.
