Life & Work with Tammy Hill of Conyers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tammy Hill.

Tammy Hill

Hi Tammy, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been an event planner for over 20 years (Events of Atlanta), and throughout that time I’ve had the joy of creating moments that bring people together. From intimate dinners for two to grand galas, golf tournaments, and even celebrity events, I’ve always been known as the host who sets the tone, creates the vibe, and makes sure everyone feels seen and cared for. At my core, I genuinely love people with all my heart.

For about a year, I made it a habit to visit different coffee shops to work. I’d ride downtown with my husband early in the morning, and while he was at work, I’d sit in those cafés from 6:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. I would work, observe, and meet people from all walks of life. I noticed how something as simple as a good cup of coffee could spark connection, conversation, and calm.

One day, I had this thought: *What if I created a place like that, but with even more warmth?* A place where people didn’t just rush in and out, but actually stayed for a moment of peace. Somewhere they could feel loved, welcomed, and appreciated. That’s when I decided to open my own coffee shop, a space that embodied everything I value about people and connection.

In April 2025, Tammy’s Little Café, also known as TLC, officially opened its doors. The name says it all. Every guest who walks in receives a little “tender love and care.” It’s not just a coffee shop to me. It’s a place where community and kindness meet over a good cup of coffee.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Has it been a smooth road? Not at all, and honestly, sometimes I just have to laugh at it. Cold, rainy days are always a challenge because people don’t want to leave their cars. That’s when I created my *Pull Up On Me* concept, where we bring your order right to your car.

And let’s talk about the coffee shop that literally opened in my backyard. Not really, but it sure felt that way. I knew people would come because everything we offer is fresh and delicious, but I was nervous because it was all so new. Thankfully, loyal customers showed up and continue to come back. They know we serve great artisan coffee, organic syrups, and delicious food. But what keeps people returning isn’t just the coffee it’s the warmth and peace that fills the air. We’re not just a coffee shop; we’re a place where community is celebrated, where people feel cared for, and where local businesses support each other.

Opening TLC taught me that success isn’t just about the perfect product. It’s about creating an experience. And for me, seeing people leave with a smile, feeling welcomed and valued, reminds me why every challenge along the way is worth it.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in creating a welcoming space where people feel seen, heard, and genuinely cared for. I provide warm hugs, a listening ear, and above all, love for people. To be honest, with tears in my eyes, what I’m most proud of are my kids and then my business. My youngest is a junior at Kennesaw State, handsome and smart, what a combination. My middle child earned her master’s from UGA, go Dawgs, and she’s my quiet storm. My oldest graduated from Georgia Tech and will officially become Dr. Hill in May. God has truly been so good to me, both in family and in business.

What sets us apart is that Tammy’s Little Café is a family-owned business filled with a team that genuinely cares. Ahmad is always smiling, Dexter is our smooth operator, Mirs (sisters) are quiet but so incredibly kind, Lauren is a newbie, but she fit right in from day one, Henry is a sweetheart, and Creed, our spiritual soul, keeps us all grounded and inspired with his positive energy and faith. Imani is my queen, and Jazz, our lead, is stern but secretly a softie. My husband, a retired captain of a police department, may be retired, but he works tirelessly to help us. He will do whatever is needed to make our café run smoothly. While people may think they are simply entering a café with great service, little do they know they are stepping into a family environment. At Tammy’s Little Café, we are all family, and every guest is treated with that same warmth, care, and love.

As I type this, I have tears in my eyes because I truly love my team. Their hearts, dedication, and warmth are what make Tammy’s Little Café more than just a coffee shop, it’s a family, and that is what truly sets us apart.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
People can work with me, collaborate with me, or support me by joining me in giving back to the community. I truly love serving others, and anything that helps uplift someone else brings me joy. My future plans include scholarships for students, community giveback drives, and annual turkey giveaways to families in need. I want Tammy’s Little Café to be more than a coffee shop, I want it to be a place that fosters kindness, support, and opportunity.

If someone wants to collaborate, I welcome local businesses, organizations, or individuals who share the same heart for giving. Whether it’s volunteering together, partnering on a community event, or helping us reach people who need support, there are countless ways to make a difference. My goal is simple: to give, to uplift, and to be a huge help to anyone in need.
