Today we’d like to introduce you to Taren Symone.
Hi Taren, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Since I can remember, people will always tell me “you sound like you should be on the radio”. So once it was time to go to college, there was no hesitation that Mass Communications will be my major. I’ll be honest when I say I didn’t work as hard as I should have but that didn’t stop me! In 2019, I started podcasting with my very close friend, Tahj, and absolutely fell in love with what we were doing. After a while, I started to imagine what my own show would be like. I brainstormed, recorded plenty of mock episodes until 4Nineteen was live! Now we are reaching almost a year of recording and I’m so excited for what is in store.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road of success has been pretty smooth thus far. My engineer, Q aka Wizard Kelly aka SS.Sticky is ALWAYS on point when it comes to production and technical issues. Of course, there were times of laziness, procrastination, and doubts. But I try to remember that success doesn’t come overnight. Obstacles are always present but how you manage those obstacles is key.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
419 is a special number! Not only is it my birthday, one of my favorite holidays of the year, but it’s also a number that I see on a daily basis. After seeing the numbers so frequently, I had to look up and see what these numbers actually mean. The angel number 419 is a symbol of new beginnings and passionate work. When someone tunes in I want them to feel like they’re having a conversation with their favorite homegirl. It really makes me smile ear to ear when someone I know or even a stranger acknowledges my hard work and relates to my topics. What I love so much about podcasting is there is an audience for ANYTHING! So no matter what topic or niche you choose, there’s someone out there ready to tune in and listen.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
On the 4Nineteen show, we start off with a daily affirmation from Louise Hay or the I Am app. I use these resources on a daily and they really help with creating the day that I deserve.
