Life & Work with Tashara Scott

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tashara Scott.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m currently an Active-Duty Soldier and Single Mother. I often hear women around me complain about not being able to find comfortable, stylish, and affordable outfits to work out in because of their weight or size. I’ve observed so much body shaming amongst women at times and I’ve always wanted to do something about it. I once felt depressed at times about my own weight and size, so I decided to make a change. My goal was to provide comfortable fitness apparel that looks good on everyone regardless of race, color, or size. The name of my company speaks volumes because every day, I seek to fix the crown of other women who decide to take this fitness journey and want to look good doing it. I have dedicated hours of research trying to find material that’s both comfortable and fits well; not exposing too much but also shows the sexy side. I am dedicated to helping women reach their fitness goals and feel good about themselves. It took me a long time to build up to courage to start my own business, but I’m glad I did because I see the satisfaction from so many women that purchase my apparel.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I wish I could say it has been a smooth road but it has not. There were times when I went weeks without making a sale. I found myself constantly watching and trying to compare myself to other women in the business not realizing that they once had to go through difficult times before they made it to where they are now. Another big challenge that I find myself facing on the daily is trying to deal with the whole sex sales image. I want to look good and feel good without having to degrade myself to sale my products.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am currently an active-duty soldier specializing in the communication field. I am known for challenging myself to achieve goals that I never would have thought I would be able to. I am most proud of being a woman that is able to manage a full-time carrier, a business, being a college student, and most importantly is being a single mother. What sets me apart from others is my ability to overcome adversities and staying focused on the multiple tasks that I deal with on the daily basis.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I see my fitness apparel line growing tremendously over the next 5 to 10 years as more women start to take their fitness journey more seriously. I would like to see women in different parts of the world wearing my apparel and opening up my own store.
