Life & Work with Taya Dorsey of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taya Dorsey

Hi Taya, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey into content creation started because I was traveling a lot while working a full-time job, and people kept asking me how I managed to do it: how I balanced work and travel, how I could afford it, and how they could do the same. So, I created Traveling Taya to inspire more people to prioritize experiences, explore the world, and do what they love—without waiting for the “perfect” time.

As my audience grew, so did their questions. People started asking me about hotel collaborations, content creation strategies, video editing, and brand deals—so I started sharing everything I knew. Over time, my content evolved from just travel inspiration to helping other creators land collaborations, improve their content, and build their presence online.

Now, alongside my full-time job, I work as a content creator, UGC creator, and social media strategist/manager, helping both creators and brands improve their presence, create high-quality content, and leverage social media to grow and monetize.

It’s been an amazing journey of turning my passion into something bigger: helping others create opportunities for themselves while continuing to do what I love.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not! Content creation is an amazing journey, but it’s far from easy. It’s so easy to compare yourself to others, feel imposter syndrome, or question if you’re good enough. There have been times where I’ve doubted myself, but I always remind myself—brands and people wouldn’t come to me if they didn’t trust my abilities and vision.

Another challenge is keeping up with the constantly changing algorithms. *inserts eye roll emoji* What works one month might not work the next, so it’s a continuous process of learning, adapting, and refining my strategy. It can be frustrating, but I remind myself that consistency and providing value matter more than follower/view numbers.

On top of that, balancing my full-time job with content creation has been a huge challenge. I want to make sure I’m always showing up for my audience, engaging, and delivering valuable content while also managing my other responsibilities. Finding that balance is an ongoing process, but I’ve learned to prioritize, set boundaries, and create systems that make it easier to manage everything.

At the end of the day, the challenges are worth it because I truly love what I do, and I know that every step forward, no matter how small, is still progress!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a travel creator and social media strategist who helps creators land paid brand deals, work with hotels, and create content they’re proud of. My content covers travel, creator tips, and collaborations, with a focus on pitching and negotiating with brands.

I’m known for helping creators feel confident in their skills, charge what they’re worth, and secure brand deals. My bestselling eBooks/guides on hotel collaborations and negotiation strategies have helped so many creators, including those who have followed me since I started my page, land collaborations for their trips and start making real money as a creator.

What I’m most proud of is the community I’ve built. Seeing creators use my resources to book their first hotel collab, negotiate higher rates, and feel more confident in their abilities is the most rewarding part of this journey.

What makes me different is that I’m growing my brand while still working a full-time job. I know what it’s like to juggle content creation while pitching brands, building relationships, and staying consistent. I focus on real, actionable strategies that help creators see results without gatekeeping. Whether it’s helping someone pitch their dream hotel, negotiate their first paid deal, or finally feel confident enough to put themselves out there, that’s the impact I love making.

At the end of the day, I want to help more people travel more, make more, and build something sustainable.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was very shy, reserved, and introverted growing up (and still am to an extent). A lot of people are shocked when I tell them I’m an introvert, but it’s true. I’ve always been the quiet observer, but at the same time, I’ve always been super creative.

Back in the day, I even had a little business selling my paintings called “Be Artsy by Taya”—if you know, you know! Creativity has always been a big part of who I am, whether it was painting, creating, or finding new ways to express myself. I’ve also always loved helping others and had a passion for traveling and exploring, so in a way, I’m not surprised this is the path I took.

But at the same time, I AM surprised. As much as I love what I do, being on camera and going to events still feels a little odd sometimes because of how introverted I am. If someone were to tell me this is what I would be doing, I would’ve literally laughed in their face. But I love that this journey pushes me out of my comfort zone and challenges me to grow in ways I never expected.
