Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Mason.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I knew I wanted to be an actress at the age of 8. Glaring up at the TV, watching my favorite movies like Charlie’s Angels Full Throttle, I felt a wave of inspiration come over me. In that moment, I knew this is what I was going to do. I excitedly ran to my mother to tell her I wanted to get into acting classes in which she replied to look some up and let her know! So naturally, I did, and that was the start of my journey. Over the years, I was on and off doing classes, small movie roles, etc. I didn’t get serious until 2021 and once I did, it’s like the universe opened its arms to finally welcome me into my destiny.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Yes and no. So, when I got serious January 2021, I felt like everything just flowed so naturally looking back. Every six months I hit a milestone and I felt like I wow this is really for me. January 2021, I started with nothing; I was taking classes and just trying to get an agent. June 2021, I signed to my first agent! December 2021, I did my first national commercial. June 2022, I signed to a way better agency! Within a month, I booked another national commercial! December 2022/January 2023, I booked more commercials and my first TV Credit and movie credit! 2023 was a little slow because the strike hit June 2023, so I was a little out of commission. But even though things kinda just flowed for me in a way that I can only give credit to God, the journey and the waiting and the hardships were definitely there. Remaining patient was probably the hardest thing. Especially when all you want to do is book and get on set! You think it’ll never happen but one day it does! You just have to keep going.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am an actress! I’ve done commercials for brands Visa, Ford, FedEx, and Budlight Seltzer. I have been in a BET movie Called “The Christmas Ringer” and an unreleased show called “Route 187”. I’m probably most known for my role in the Kountry Wayne skits on Facebook. I’m proud of everything I do! I’m just happy to be doing what I love. I think what sets me apart is that I’m just a girl from Decatur who brings that edgy, raw, cool vibe that I feel is desperately needed in this industry.
Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
This whole career choice is a risk! I have no idea if I’ll “make it”. Being a working actor is such a blessing. There’s so much uncertainty in this industry, nothing is a guarantee. But I keep going anyway and just have faith that it will work out!
