Today we’d like to introduce you to Tequila Moore.
Tequila, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my business back in 2016 officially but just as a hobby in 2014. It all started with my pregnancy. I was sitting in the doctor’s office looking through a magazine and saw some pink and blue candy apples. I was like, I would like some of those for my baby shower being I was having a reveal. I called my cousin and talked to her and we found out how to make them. Let’s just say they were a hit at the shower. From that people started to inquire about me making them for orders. It began there and fast forward now here I am making treats every weekend for parties, weddings, birthdays, etc. When I say treats I mean dipped strawberries, candy apples, Rice Krispies, candy popcorn, etc. I never would have imagined I would be doing this right now. I always say God has a major sense of humor.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I can honestly say, it’s not always easy. I’m a perfectionist. I have lost many many hours of sleep. Thrown away many products and ingredients being having burned apple mix on the stove from being too tired, or the order just not looking the way I wanted it to. It’s not always easy when you’re truly passionate. I had to make myself slow down. Take time for me. And learn to say I’m booked for this week etc. when I need to. I overwork myself because I actually want all my customers to be happy.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I take sweets and turn them into art pieces. It’s always so funny when I’m out shopping or running an errand and someone sees me and is like you’re the candy apple lady aren’t you. I get so tickled.
I’m proud of the work I offer my customers. I feel they pay their hard-earned money for greatness that’s what I want to give them. I also teach treat classes. When I see my students work. It makes me so very proud of the work they are producing. Let me know I did something right during class.
I have not passed out any business cards since 2016. My business has been thriving and booked weekly off word of mouth.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success is about accomplishing your goals in life. It’s about inspiring others to reach their full potential to become the best version of their self.
