Beyond SKN Deep is more than just a skincare brand to me; it’s a reflection of my own journey to self-love and resilience. It was created out of a really tough time in my life, when I was overcoming domestic violence and depression. That’s how the name “Beyond SKN Deep” came about – it’s about recognizing that true beauty comes from within, and that self-care is about so much more than just a skin care regimen.
I started Beyond SKN Deep, because I wanted to find a way to take care of myself, to reclaim my sense of self-worth. I wanted to create something that would make self-care easy and accessible for everyone, even when you don’t feel like doing it but may just have a little of energy. That’s why I developed our exfoliating cleansing pads and toner pads – they’re pre-soaked and ready to go, so you can take a moment for yourself, even on those really difficult days.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey of an entrepreneur is not a smooth-sailing one; it is often paved with obstacles, setbacks, and moments of doubt. However, every challenge encountered along the way serves as a testament to one’s faith, resilience, and unwavering dedication to their vision.
One of the most daunting struggles for an entrepreneur is hearing the word ‘no.’ It can plant seeds of doubt and defeat. However, I stand as a living testament that a ‘no’ does not signify the end but rather a ‘not yet.’ Two years after facing rejection, the same supermarket that told me no, became a yes! Now my skincare products have emerged as customer favorites, proving that perseverance and belief in your craft can transform obstacles into opportunities.
All in all, resilience is key, and every setback is a stepping stone towards greater accomplishments. I always tell myself that a delay does not equate to a denial; it signifies a moment of growth and preparation for the imminent ‘yes.’ I’ve learned to embrace the challenges, they literally mold you into a stronger, more determined individual.
