Today we’d like to introduce you to Toccara Cantrell.
Hi Toccara, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am from Gainesville, GA, a small town roughly 45 minutes north of Atlanta. I was fortunate to have been raised in a two-parent household. My parents weren’t too strict but they didn’t play about education, hard work, and consistency. I remember my dad and I would have drawing contests or either pig out on snacks and watch Forensic Files all night. Needless to say, I developed my love for art and anatomy at a very young age.
I was awarded with several Who’s Who Amongst American Art Awards, where my art work was displayed in local and state-wide museums.
As life happened, I had to settle for jobs that paid the bills rather than a career that captured my true talent. I experienced a few trials and tribulations along the way that bent me a little, but never broke me. After taking some much needed time to myself I chose to be selfish with myself in order to find my purpose. I knew that I’d probably lose friends along the way, and I was okay with that. I just knew I had to separate in order to elevate.
While on a journey of self-discovery I realized the importance of self-care; which is the act of taking an active role in protecting your own well-being and happiness. For numerous years I neglected this simple act. I then set out to start a self-care based business that encouraged just that!
Meanwhile, I am working for one of the most rewarding yet most unprincipled corporate jobs of my life. It was stressful and the stress began to affect my health. I had enough and expedited my exit plan. I enrolled in a few anatomy, spa, and body contouring courses. I eventually obtained the proper certifications required to own and operate my own spa, taking me back to my love for art and anatomy.
One day I clocked in at my corporate place of employment and within one hour I walked out. Now here we are today!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My exit plan was in the middle of a world wide pandemic (Covid-19), so I was definitely apprehensive. There were a lot of businesses closing while simultaneously I’m embarking on the start up of a new business. I’ll say this, It has been one of the best and one of the most profitable years in business to date!
The challenges I did encounter on this journey molded me into both a better individual and entrepreneur.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a 4 time certified Non-invasive Body Sculpting Practitioner. I am currently enrolled in a massage therapy program so that I able to offer additional services in the near future. I am the sole owner of Brow & Body Studio, a non-invasive self-care and wellness spa located in downtown Lawrenceville, GA. I specialize in non-surgical fat reduction treatments and care services including body sculpting, weight management, teeth whitening, skin tightening, and more. Our services are available to both men and women.
My mission is to inspire and empower self-care, self-love, and overall wellness through the plethora of services offered at Brow & Body Studio. Often times we get so busy with life that we unknowingly neglect ourselves. I wanted to offer services that encourages the necessity of self-care from the inside out. “Give the world the best of you, not what’s left of you!”
I have also been in the medical field over 15 years and I am very passionate about the overall health of my clients. We are not just a one-stop shop. We build life long relationships with our clients, this is what truly sets Brow & Body Studio apart from other spas.
What are your plans for the future?
My plan is to remain disciplined and consistent. However, my short term goals are of course expansion and continued diversity. Brow & Body Studio will be a full-service spa for all things beauty, self-care, and wellness for both women and men.
