Today we’d like to introduce you to Travis Rhaney.
Hi Travis, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started off learning how to DJ one summer while I was in college back in 2012. I got my first chance to DJ at The Fort Valley State University cafeteria with the campus radio station and it went great. I got a lot of praise off of my mixing and blending. A month later, I got my first chance to DJ a major party for the Deltas and I knew it would either make or break me. The party was packed from wall to wall and it went great.
I knew after that party that being a DJ was for me, and I’ve been going hard ever since.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road at all. Some of the challenges for me was getting over my stage fright. I know it sounds crazy, but I always got nervous. Being on a stage in front of a lot of people made me nervous. Over the years, I had to learn how to let those nerves go and just do me and do what I do best. Another challenge I faced was learning how to have my own style with DJing. I learned different techniques from other DJs, but I wanted to have my own style of DJing.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a DJ and I specialize in events such as: weddings, birthday parties, etc. I also am a club and mix show DJ for multiple radio stations. As a DJ, I am most proud of how far I have come since I started versus where I am today. At one point, I thought about quitting, but I gained my passion back for it. I am also very proud that I am a role model and other DJs do look up to me. I have built a lot of relationships in this career, and I am grateful for that.
What I am most known for is for my drop, “Uaaghhh.” Anytime that drop comes on everybody knows it’s DJ Rhane.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters the most to me is the people that support me and knowing my worth. In this business, you will have people try not to pay you what you’re worth. I like for people to have a good time and I like to see how my audience reacts to me. I provide great services and to see everyone having a great time is rewarding to me.
