Life & Work with Trevon “Money Way Vegas” Battle

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trevon “Money Way Vegas” Battle.

Hi Trevon, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I got started when I was eight. My cousins used to always push me to rap but I wanted to play sports; they just seen something in me that I didn’t see at the time maybe because I was so young. We managed to build our own mini studio working off an old dell desktop computer, fruity loops and a mini mic that looked like a pencil. The whole neighborhood would come to our house just to record and always wanted me on their songs. I always thought football or basketball was going to be what I was great at until I found my passion and love for music. Long story short, my cousins and life struggles are a big part of why I’m the artist I am today shout out Juno Rocket, IQ Gutta, auntie ann (RIP) and ma dukes. I really could name a few people that helped me on my journey whether it was advice or whatever but I mainly did it on my own after my cousins went to prison. I found myself alone a lot in my middle school and high school years and in that spare time, I would be playing sports with friends or writing music so that’s always been in me since I was young maybe since birth and I got to where I am today because of my hustle, dedication and ambition to make it happen. I was doing shows, booking my own studio sessions, hitting the clubs getting my music played, etc. all at the age 17 and from there on, I just always kept my grind and loved the music business more and more every day. I took plenty of losses early on just not always being able to do everything needed to get to that next level but it never stopped me from wanting it more, so here I am today on my way to the top!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
NO! Not at all! Growing up, I didn’t have my mom and dad present as much as my other family members but my aunt made sure I didn’t feel lost as a child and I was loved equally. I was partially raised in a foster care home until my aunt adopted me, that really made me man up fast. My mom had a drug addiction and my dad was just married to the streets from what I’m told so I had to deal with that all my life, just trying to understand why I couldn’t be like my friends at school or like my family members who seemed to have it all.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a rap artist/songwriter. I specialize in melodic cadences. I’m known for a lot of things but to name a few the way I dress, my personality and talent. I’m most proud of what I’ve overcome in my life just knowing its people in the world that couldn’t go through half the things I did and still be here or in their right mind I’m just happy to be alive and well to be able to help the next person who has a similar story as mine.

What sets me apart is I’m willing to help whoever whenever however. My mindset is a lot different from a lot of people or artists. I really want to Jay Z this rap thing but better just help artists from my city get on and change the people’s life in a major way.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
All I know is Atlanta will still be the wave. I’m not sure what we’ll see from the next generation of artists but I know it’ll be something major. Maybe the dance thing will be a trend again. I see that happening in the near future.
