Today we’d like to introduce you to Troy Crossfield
Hi Troy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Troy Crossfield, I am a Actor/Film Maker/Writer/Director and producer from Toronto Canada. I got my start in the industry as an actor in theatre. I spent time in the community theatre circuit in a lot of ‘Black Plays’ in Toronto. At the same time, I was a recording artist “Joe Louis’ and had a few songs on the radio but my career didn’t officially start till 2015. I signed my first recording deal with Sony Atv and Ludacri’s Disturbing the Peace in Atlanta. I was discovered my manager Picasso at the time and we drove to Atlanta to meet them and Jeff Dixon CEO of Disturbing the Peace gave us our shot. I signed a songwriting deal with one of the hottest labels and the giant in Publising Sony Atv. After being in Atlanta back and forth from Toronto for a few years, I headed back home to Toronto had a daughter, then went back into acting. Years later started a theatre production company Crossfield House Productions. I wrote and produced my first play ‘A little white lie’ after this play hit success in the community we took it to the next level, had amazing partnerships and then went into film making. Ive co-won a 2018 People’s Choice Award for Stage Production of the Year. I’ve gone on to produce and write 2 more plays one of which went on tour Nintey Four. Film making is my now currently Recently won the 2023 People’s Choice By Blacks Award for Director of the Year, I was ranked in 2022 for Outstanding Black Men in Canada. I have directed and produced music videos Sony and my films, ‘SOAP DISH’ and ‘Out of Order have been in international festivals.
I got to where I got to today because of God’s path on my life and for that I am thankful.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Some of the struggles along the way has been trying to always find the money to produce the thing. Iv’e been honestly blessed to be around the right people and the circles and mentors at high levels. Ive struggled with imposter syndrome as a writer/producer at times and creative blocks come in so many different forms. Being a father and a husband along the journey was not a struggle for me but it was hard because often having to make decisions to put the family first or the sacrifice this journey cost…and it costed alot.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?

How do you think about happiness?
What makes me happy is family and being joy for others. I love serving and it’s something that God has put inside of me. I like to see others win and put others first. God makes me happy and my two little humans and our family unit. Creating also makes me happy and being on stage/on camera.
