Today we’d like to introduce you to Wendy Jules RN and Carla Nelson RN, LE of Fleur De Lis Beauty & Esthetics.
Hi Wendy and Carla, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
We are Fleur De Lis Beauty & Esthetics, a beautiful luxury Medispa located in the heart of Brooklyn, NY. We are both Registered Nurses and Sisters who specialize in Skincare with a concentration on Skin of Color, Carla and I saw that there was a lack of representation of skincare in our community and wanted to fill in the gap. Our goal was to provide luxury and specialized skin care right in our community.
Prior to the pandemic, We located in a small space located in the back of a salon. Even in that small space, we made excellent customer service a top priority. Right before the pandemic, we decided it was time for expansion, unbeknownst what was ahead. In November of 2019, we secured a 1900sqft space that was in major need of renovation, but Carla and I saw the vision. As we secured our contractor and work was underway, the Pandemic halted all the plans.
We were stuck mid construction, still having full rent to pay and no money coming in. We were stuck. Despite the odds against us we decide to push through. Carla and I had no loans, we had to fund this project through with our own funds by empty our 401Ks, savings and the help of family and friends. We are very proud of where we are today, We were able to grow our clientele exponentially, and solidify ourselves in our community as Nurse Skin Experts.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Struggles are an understatement, we have faced multiple challenges being new in entrepreneurship. It was definitely a learning curve where mistakes became lessons. We growing learning and thankful.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Both Carla and I come from world of dermatology. Currently, we specialize in facials, laser hair removal, IV hydration, dermal fillers, Botox, micro-needling for skin and hair restoration. We are most proud of the impact we’ve made in the community facilitating luxury skin care and education men and women on selfcare. Being 2 sisters of Haitian descent we thrive of making people feel at home. We want our clients feel like their home. We dote on our clients, we celebrate them every chance we get. We are excited to come everyday to treat our clients.
