Today we’d like to introduce you to Wenyi Gu.
Wenyi, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am now studying at savannah college of art and design as a fashion design major. I also have a minor in interior design. I’m interested in exploring spacial interactive experiences through different ways of design. My future prospect of working is in the area of experience design. I am also a part-time model.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I have always believed that design should be human-centered, which is the fundamental common ground of all pathways. It is supposed to be originally based on humans’ emotions, physicality, and mentality. Such a principle has been enlightening me a lot.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
One of my projects in my portfolio called superposition was trying to explore the intricate relationship between the individual, the collective, and the creation. The individual regards to everyone as a single self. The collective means the human group. The creation stands for the nature, the space we all live in. People would have dynamic sensory experiences in my architectural installations. I was trying to use different lighting, AR tool and sound-collect devices to give the audience multiple visual and auditory experiences.
In another project, I pondered the relationship between humans and machines. The format and shape of the final visual output convey the original intention that humans might be unconsciously controlled by screens. To achieve this goal, my group decided to abstract the dynamic facial data as intertwined wires in Touchdesign to visualize the complicated relationship between humans and machines.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
Reach out to me with your collaboration ideas; I’d love to work together.
