Life & Work with Whitney Price of Smyrna

Today we’d like to introduce you to Whitney Price.

Hi Whitney, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started with a cute house that had everything wrong behind the walls – I ran into all the traditional and all too common contractor problems being a single woman – the price went up overnight, overselling, inappropriate comments etc. As I went through my ordeal I realized how common it was and decided to use my engineering & accounting background to help people like me struggling with contractors. I started by partnering with a company that helped me fix my house; however, quickly realized we were not a good business match. I started working on my own with some of the subcontractors that fixed my house and we grew from there. My partner, Juan, and I met through the disaster of my house and have been building together ever since.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The nature of construction is to throw a few challenges along the way – its part of the fun; however, as a young business we have had the normal challenges of growing a new business. Wearing the hats as the owner, estimator, sales person, and keeping jobs on schedule with a good crew while maintaining my accounting business.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We are a family centered construction company that puts clients first. We started as just a framing crew & have expanded to full remodels as I obtained my general contractors license. We are truly passionate at bringing clients’ visions to life on budget & on time while maintaining transparency throughout the process.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories was sitting up at night with my uncle who raised me watching one of our shows while he marked up plans & did take offs. I love how the moment has come full circle as now I am doing my own take offs.
