Today we’d like to introduce you to William Williams.
Hi William, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m the middle child of 5 and the only one of my siblings that grew up without a father. I was an all around athlete growing up starting with football transitioning to basketball in high school where I got kicked off the basketball team in March of 2013 months before graduation concluding my basketball dreams.
My last month of senior year, our schools track coach at the time influenced me to come to practice on a Thursday just to see if I like it and the following day he had me jump at a track meet where I long jumped and he referenced run and jump as if you’re dunking a ball and my first jump was 23 ft 2 inches that landed me top in the state.
I then went to a junior college where I started to excel expeditiously going from 23ft 2in to 25ft 7inches my first year and 26feet 4in my sophomore year earning me scholarships offers from every division 1 I could imagine. I went on to sign to Texas A&M university where I became a 5x all American, 2x lettermen, 2x conference champion and 2x national champion while holding the school and facility record.
Following graduating with my degree in sports management and communications, I went on to compete professionally in what I do today being a 2x USA indoor national champion and 5x world championship qualifier and2024 Olympic alternate ranking top in the world in my event.
Along with my track and field accolades, I am a professional dunker, model and coach.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
In my previous intro, I mentioned being kicked off the high school basketball team. I was always highly misunderstood when it came to my healthy obsession with my craft.
I was never the most supported and as a professional track and field athlete, I’ve had to find nearly my entire career with no sponsors despite having the accolades that are deserving.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Competing professionally, representing team USA while also coach individual track and field athletes, football players and athletes of all sports enhancing their speed, agility and technique.
What sets me apart from others is my work ethic, I’m very studious to my craft and others. I also have this ability to get the best out of others even if it means sometimes pissing them off. I see potential in others they sometimes don’t see in themselves and I dream big! I don’t limit myself to one thing or idea or goal
How do you think about happiness?
My family. Being around my family and just seeing them smile. It’s the light of my life and the reason I keep going. Knowing my grandfather is looking down on me seeing the efforts and my mother
