Life & Work with Willie Brassell of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Willie Brassell.

Hi Willie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always had a love for creating and decorating it’s something that’s been a part of me since I was a kid growing up in Mississippi. My mom and her seven sisters were always designing, crafting, and putting together beautiful things, so I was surrounded by creativity from the start. Watching them work, I naturally picked up that same passion and started experimenting with decorations on my own.

When I moved to Georgia in 2016, I didn’t have a big plan at first. I just wanted to keep doing what I loved, so I started taking on small projects here and there nothing major, just little things to help me perfect my craft. Before long, people started noticing my work. I began getting calls to decorate for school events where I worked and for church members who needed help with special occasions.

That’s really how The Willie B. Experience was born. It wasn’t something I planned overnight it grew naturally out of my love for creating and my desire to help others. Every event I do feels like a chance to give back, to bring a little joy and beauty into someone else’s moment.

I don’t claim to be the best at what I do, but I can honestly say that I always give my best. My goal is to make sure every customer is pleased and that each event reflects care, creativity, and heart. The Willie B. Experience is more than just decorations it’s a reflection of where I come from, what I’ve learned, and the joy I find in making people happy through my work.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. Like most journeys worth taking, mine has had its share of challenges. When I first started The Willie B. Experience, I didn’t have all the resources or connections that many established businesses had. I was learning as I went how to price my work, how to manage time between my job and my business, and how to build a name for myself in a new state.

There were times when I doubted myself, wondering if people would really take me seriously or if I could turn my passion into something sustainable. I’ve had moments where things didn’t go as planned events that didn’t turn out exactly how I envisioned, or times when I had to stretch a small budget to make something beautiful.

But those challenges taught me a lot. They pushed me to be more creative, more resourceful, and more confident in my abilities. I learned to trust my process and to keep going even when things got tough. Every setback became a lesson, and every lesson helped me grow not just as a business owner, but as a person.

So no, it hasn’t been an easy road, but it’s been a meaningful one. The struggles made the successes that much sweeter and reminded me why I started in the first place to create, to serve, and to bring joy through what I do.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
By day, I’m a middle school Reading teacher, and by passion, I’m the creative mind behind The Willie B. Experience. Teaching and designing might seem like two completely different worlds, but for me, they actually go hand in hand. Both allow me to inspire, create, and connect with people in meaningful ways.

In the classroom, I get to help students discover the power of words and imagination. I love watching them grow in confidence as readers and thinkers it’s one of the most rewarding parts of my job. Teaching has also taught me patience, organization, and how to adapt quickly, all of which carry over into my work as an event designer.

When I’m not teaching, I pour that same energy into my creative side. Through The Willie B. Experience, I design and decorate events that bring people’s visions to life. I specialize in creating warm, inviting atmospheres that reflect each client’s personality and story. Whether it’s a school function, a wedding, or a community celebration, I approach every project with care, creativity, and heart.

What I’m most proud of is being able to balance both worlds educating young minds while building something that allows me to express my creativity. What sets me apart is that everything I do comes from a place of genuine passion and purpose. I don’t just teach or decorate I serve, uplift, and create experiences that leave a lasting impression.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
What I’d like readers to know most is that The Willie B. Experience is built on faith, passion, and perseverance. Everything I’ve accomplished so far has come from trusting the process, staying grounded, and believing that every gift we have is meant to be shared.

I want people to understand that it’s never too late to start something new or to chase a dream that’s been sitting in your heart. I didn’t begin this journey with a full plan or all the answers I simply started with what I had and let my purpose guide me. Every step, every challenge, and every success has shaped me into who I am today.

To anyone reading this who has a passion whether it’s teaching, creating, or something entirely different don’t be afraid to take that first step. Growth doesn’t happen overnight, but consistency, faith, and hard work will always lead you where you’re meant to be.

And finally, I just want to say thank you to everyone who has supported The Willie B. Experience, trusted me with their special moments, and believed in my vision. This journey has been a blessing, and I’m excited for what’s still to come.
