Life & Work with Yana Miriam of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yana Miriam.

Hi Yana, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my content creation and acting career at 11 years old when I first started performing on stage and creating home movies. I quickly realized entertaining the masses was what I wanted to pursue in life and is what brought me joy.

Today I create comedy sketches for social media, direct stage plays, and act in films around Atlanta.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not! It’s been a lot of trial and error. Creating content for social media and even performing in front of a camera or on stage takes lots of patience, an open mind, and a willingness to learn and grow. I’ve had to teach myself how to use video editing software, the appropriate filming tools and even how to present myself properly online.

I’ve faced a lot of rejection whether that be not getting a role or my views tanking. But from those bumps, I learned how to either assess or let go. Each bump in the road made me stronger and more creative.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m mostly known for and proud of my comedy sketches on Instagram! They’ve helped me grow a fabulous community online and even in real life with the creatives I’ve met along the way.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I haven’t always thought I was funny! My whole life I’ve been surrounded by loud and hilarious people, but I never identified as the jokester. Even though I had directors, friends and acting teachers tell me I have great comedic timing, I never accepted it until recently.
