Today we’d like to introduce you to Alicia Coleman.
Alicia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Live Activeli started as a page to encourage people to live an active lifestyle during the height of the pandemic in 2020. The focal point of Living Active was solely centered around health and fitness. As time went on Live Activeli slowly began to transform into a brand that not only correlated to one’s fitness journey but to their life. Living Activeli did not have to begin and stop at your physical health, but it could apply to your dreams, your career goals, your family.
I realized that Living Active really means living on/in purpose. It meant to go after that things that are destined with God’s will for your life and to not allow fear to stand in the way. Once the shift of what it meant to Live an Active life hit me, the brand shifted from fitness-centric to lifestyle.
During the latter part of last year, I officially launched the athletic apparel line of Live Activeli. The apparel line was me walking the walk and living active and starting my business. I wanted to create a line that correlated with the journey of the brand, something that could be worn to work out but also something comfortable and stylish enough to get things done outside of the gym.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been everything but smooth starting the brand and getting the apparel line off the ground. I’ve experienced a lot of self-doubt throughout my life and I believe that after starting LiveActiveli it was magnified. I didn’t believe that I was credible enough to encourage people to get active let alone pursue their dreams when I myself was struggling to build up the confidence to launch my apparel line. I was allowing myself to stay in situations and relationships that no longer served me and it was all for the sake of being comfortable. But there was no growth there and in order for me to live out the name of my brand I knew I had the Live Activeli in my mental health and Live Activeli in my spiritual health as well. I started going to therapy and I began to let go of people and habits that weren’t allowing me to grow. I started reading and going for walks. All of which changed my perspective and mental health tremendously.
I got out of my way and got uncomfortable which is what led to my courage of starting my athletic apparel. I did it so uncomfortable and so scared. Nothing was perfect but in a sense, it was a reflection of life. Nothing can be perfect if you don’t start.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I work as a recruiter, and I absolutely love my corporate field because just like Live Activeli, I get to impact people’s lives in the most positive way. I motivate people when it comes to their careers and helping them understand how they can pivot and pursue whatever roles, salary, or company they desire to go after. I call myself a career matchmaker because I listen to understand and fall through with giving the best advice.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
I learned to Fall forward. Don’t be afraid to fail because that’s the only way to learn. Life will happen to you but you can’t take it to heart. Get back up, dust yourself off and try again. In your persistence wisdom will flourish. Romans 5:3-5.
