Today we’d like to introduce you to Harrison Russell.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Harrison. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Well, my story started in Philadelphia, PA. Ever since a young age I’ve always had a passion for entertaining and people around me could see it early. From the age of three years old, I knew I wanted to be an actor and made the decision to make my dreams come true right then and there. It’s been a tough journey so far, to say the least. Dealing with financial and legal issues due to my own irresponsibility caused some bumps in the road but I’m back and moving quicker than ever. I made a goal to live in Atlanta and have an agent by the time I turned 25 and I made both things happen. Ever since then I’ve been the hardest worker around, getting involved in multiple films, television projects, and commercials. As well as working closely with Will Smith on his last two films as his full time stands in. Giving me immense knowledge and opportunity to keep my career moving forward.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has definitely not been a smooth road to get where I am. As I’ve learned though, anything worth going for requires sacrifice and going through tough times. I’ve gone through multiple financial hardships over my pursuit of this career. I won’t go into much detail but I also had a small battle with the law. Which set me back a few years and really messed with my mental state for awhile. I went through an entire year where I was almost evicted from my apartment every single month because I couldn’t pay my bills. Between working two jobs and using all my time and resources into acting causes an absurd amount of stress on me and my family. Which is why I want to be successful in what I do so badly. My main goal is to provide for my family and the people who stuck with me along the way.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Harrison Russell – what should we know?
My business is about myself, in a way. I’m a self-made actor with no other connections to the industry and still somehow making my way. I specialize in acting, writing and directing. What sets me apart from other actors in the area is my attitude and my skill. I have the confidence and skill necessary to bring any character I portray to life in a real and believable way. In addition to my craft on set, I also believe I am humble enough to be the type of person people want to be around. I want people to look at me and say I’m a great actor but an even better man. My biggest project so far would have to be a tv show I did called murder chose me on investigation discovery. As well as working with Will Smith currently.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
The most credit I can give in my pursuit goes to God first and foremost. Without him nothing I do is possible. I would also have to say my parents have played a huge role in where I am now. The support they’ve given me when every parent just wants there child to be stable in such an unstable career has been great. I’ve also had great acting coaches and mentors along the way. A gentleman named Anthony Paderewski did my first ever headshots and told me I had what it took to be a leading man. He helped me get my first agent as well as coaching to work on my craft. I also have numerous friends and other family members who have been instrumental to my success. I would also have to say my doubters give me an incredible amount of motivation as well. From teachers and classmates in high school who disrespected me and said I would never make it. They helped get me here too.
