Today we’d like to introduce you to Shawna.
Shawna Reed began her journey in the music industry in 2011 in her home town Warner Robins, GA. She worked as an event promoter for several years traveling around the country organizing concerts in nightclubs and arenas for the entertainment company Brilliant Mind Brothers (BMB). In 2013, she was the co-founder of the management company 320 Music Group and signed super-producer DJ Plugg. Simultaneously in 2013, Shawna created the lifestyle brand Trap Merch which featured exclusive apparel, music, and a platform for fans to get a behind the scenes view of popular Atlanta artists like Gucci Mane, OJ Da Juiceman, Peewee Longway and more. In 2017, she joined Waka Flocka’s wife, Tammy Rivera’s team as her Music Manager. They released Ms. Rivera’s debut EP ‘Fate’, executive produced by Rico Love, in April of 2018. Currently, Shawna is the Vice President of A&R for the record label and film production company 1Deep Productions. 1Deep is the first black female independent label in the south ran by Precious Anderson, ESQ.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The journey has been long and sometimes very difficult but always rewarding. When things haven’t worked in my favor or appeared to be a loss, I’ve learned a valuable lesson each time. I don’t feel like my struggles have been any different from anyone else on a similar path as me, we all learn the same lessons about honesty, loyalty, and the value of relationships God just gives each of us different scenarios to live through. You just have to take the good with the bad and never give up because tomorrow could be the day your breakthrough comes.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with 1Deep Productions – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
1Deep Productions is a Record Label and a Film Production Company. Under one umbrella, our music department and film production company operate separately. I work under the record label umbrella as VP of A&R. What sets 1Deep apart is that this company is the first black female-run label/film production company in the city. Our CEO is a very successful entertainment attorney that has already broken barriers within the industry so 1Deep is set to be a major player in music and film in 2020.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Currently, all my efforts are going into building up the roster for 1Deep. We will be signing more artists soon and we’re working on creating our team of producers and songwriters so it’s a lot of work right now building the label’s foundation. I still help with the project management on Peewee Longway’s team as well, he will be dropping another volume to his popular Blue M&M series in a few weeks so I’m wearing a lot of hats right now. This is what I love to do though so I’m thankful for every opportunity I’m given. I just want to go down as one of the best to do it.
