Meet Aalayah Williams of LayWills in Downtown Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aalayah Williams.

So, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’m an actress and rapper. My rap career started back in 2015 as doing cyphers while in undergrad at Winthrop University. I would do a cypher once a year with other students to showcase our skills for upcoming college events. Later, in 2018, I would release my first single – “Snaxx.” I released my first EP, “Preschool” in 2019, with a sophomore EP titled “Upper Class” in 2020.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road, but it has been quite eventful. I have won several competitions for rap that I am proud of. I have also been fortunate enough to travel to various cities for performances and events.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I am a rapper that is also an actress. That sets me apart from other musicians because it allows me to really focus on the storytelling aspect of my music.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment of my career has been being selected amongst thousands of other participants in the BET: The Next Rap Star competition; and finishing in the top four.
