Meet Abed Husain of Poppin Pita Grill in Home Park

Today we’d like to introduce you to Abed Husain.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
The motivation for the restaurant was a simple one, to provide Atlanta with an authentic Middle Eastern restaurant. I grew up in Palestine, moved to the states when I was 16, and have been in Atlanta ever since. Throughout the years I had found an alarming lack of quality Middle Eastern restaurants. There are some good ones out there, but simply not enough to cater to a city the size of Atlanta and its suburbs. It was something that was always in the back of my mind, and about two years ago, I finally decided to take the leap and go ahead and fill that void that I always felt was missing here. I have travelled all over the U’S, and all the big cities have great Middle Eastern options, and I always felt that Atlanta just didn’t match up in that regards.

Has it been a smooth road?
The road was relatively slow, but like any small businesses, you have your challenges. Getting the word out there about the business, having a reliable and talented team who share your vision of the restaurant, and of course, perfecting the food and customer service to a level where everyone leaves satisfied. I take every review and critique very serious, as I view every customer as a guest in my home. There are a lot of food options in Atlanta, and I am always humbled and honored when a customer chooses us. I never want them to regret their choice.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Poppin Pita Grill – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am one of the owners of Poppin Pita Grill. We specialize in providing fresh, delicious and authentic Middle Eastern food. Our main focus is on Shawarma, falafel, hummus, and Kabob. We also have a very popular cross over section of our menu, where we mix Middle Eastern with classic western food options, such as our Shawarma Quesadillas, Falafel Sliders, Middle Eastern Chicken Wings and our Arabian Burger. What sets us apart from other Middle Eastern restaurants is also what I am the most proud of, our commitment to providing fresh and authentic food. We make everything fresh to order, so our wait times are anywhere from 7 minutes to 12 minutes, just depending on what you are ordering, but I find that our customers do not mind the extra few minutes of waiting due to the quality of product they are receiving. Also, for those who are in a hurry, we always accept phone orders where you can call ahead and have your food ready for you once you arrive. I am proud to be a restaurant with high standards when it comes to food quality and customer service, and being a restaurant which is humble and is always looking for opportunities to grow and improve our product in every aspect.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
What I love about Atlanta is the diversity of the city. People ask me all the time what demographic makes up our core customer base, and I honestly cannot answer that question because we get all walks of life in our restaurant, Black, White, Middle Eastern, Asian, Gay, Straight, etc., and I couldn’t be prouder of the fact that our food is enjoyed by all walks of life.

What I like least? Not much, Atlanta is a great city. It is affordable, it has all the big city amenities that other big cities have, great weather, family friendly, and a growing tourist destination. Although, if I had to pick one thing, I think like most people, I could do with less traffic!

I drive all the way from Peachtree corners to poppin pita, and I know authentic middle eastern food and it’s authentic as can be, but most importantly to me is freshness and I get it in every bite @ poppin pita. “Highly recommend this place”.
