Today we’d like to introduce you to Abner Jackson III.
Hi Abner, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started my website four years after being a media correspondent for VEU Magazine. I wrote for Stacks Magazine before that and was the lead Sports Writer. I decided to branch out for myself and take a leap of faith. I had some connections and relationships when I started, but not like I do now. I think in 2021 I showed people I arrived and I became one of the elites at what I do. Now I get so many media invites it’s hard to keep up. I thank God for all the publicists that have great relationships with me. My work speaks for itself, but without their invites and approvals, I wouldn’t have all this success.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I went from wanting a lot of emails, posts, interviews, content and then only covering four events in 2020 due to COVID. Now I can’t keep up with all the interview requests and media requests. Would be nice to have a team, but it’s hard to find consistent help. I’m used to doing everything now and I’m very good at creating content now.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My niche is mainly media/entertainment and I cover a plethora of other things. I post food content, travel content, sports content, I interview and feature models, I interview business owners, music artists, reality TV personalities, actors/actress, etc. I think that sets me apart from most people. Most of my peers/counterparts focus on one or two areas. I create memes that generate great numbers on my Facebook page.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Content is key, always be willing to work with people and make relationships. I’m pretty sure they are millions of entertainment platforms in America, a lot of us cover the same events. Don’t look at everyone as competition and make those connections. If you work hard, stay consistent, doors will open up for you.
