Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Reign Smith.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was born in Atlanta in the 90’s, a true Georgia peach. Raised primarily by my mother, I was taught from a young age that I can do all things through Jesus Christ who strengthens me. My mom made sure that I was as independent as possible, as to not be a burden on anyone in my life which has shaped me beyond what I can articulate. In elementary school I was deemed a high achiever and magnet student but I always had a mind of my own, oftentimes leading my friends and cousins into various ventures starting as early as age 5. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been intrigued by the entertainment industry and I would make up songs, dances, skits, etc to entertain my family and friends. My mom got me into modeling around seven years old but it wasn’t until my freshman year of college that I decided to wholeheartedly pursue a career in entertainment. I joined a fashion organization on campus and that is where I began to build my network of industry peers. Soon after, I was introduced to an opportunity to act in an independent film and instantly fell in love with the process! Since then, I’ve been published in several magazines and featured in numerous music videos, advertisements, television shows, and films. This past spring, I had the pleasure of producing, directing, editing and starring*) in a micro-series written by my mom titled “You Don’t Know My Name” which has been adapted into a short film and screened around the city. (Most recently, I booked a role on a new Tyler Perry show so stay tuned for that!)
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey has definitely not been an easy one, in fact I still struggle in certain aspects to this day. The entertainment industry is a breeding ground for insecurity and anxiety because of all of the societal pressures that are placed on people in this field in addition to constant rejection. Aside from that, I have had to navigate my way through extremely uncomfortable situations ranging from unwarranted sexual advances to being taken advantage of financially. Fortunately, because of my strong spiritual foundation, I am able to pick myself up, shake off the nonsense and keep progressing.
Tell us more about your work.
I am an actor, producer and entrepreneur. I create opportunities for people to learn and grow, from curating networking events to mentoring forex traders. I think it is safe to say that I am known for my work ethic, above all. I work tirelessly toward my goals and I strive to make the lives of the people I encounter as easy as possible.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I pride myself on being an excellent listener and I believe that is key to success in any relationship, but especially in business.
