Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Crawford.
Adam, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Born and raised in Atlanta, I have been surrounded by creativity my whole life. My father is in the film industry and my mother fed me endless art supplies from yard sales. I started painting pictures and building sculptures from a young age.
When I got to high school I began to take my craft more seriously and began searching for more. I went the academic route of studying 4 years at Georgia College where I had the facilities to bring my ideas to life. After earning my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree I moved back to Atlanta and purchased my studio in East Atlanta where I’m working on my newest projects.
Has it been a smooth road?
Fortunately, I have had amazing support from family, friends, collectors and fellow creatives on my journey. While everything hasn’t always been smooth sailing, in my experience working for myself, I have learned that’s the way of life and it’s a continuous learning experience. Every client’s different and everything happens for a reason.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I offer an array of creative services, I believe the more skills and techniques I have, the more valuable and diverse my services can be. When I attended Georgia College I took advantage of the printmaking and sculpture facilities to build my “tool belt” of processes and techniques.
Currently, I do everything from private fine art commissions, Live Art activations for brands like Home Depot, Choose ATL, Wicked Weed, painting electrical boxes around the city, renting fine artwork to the film and TV industry, to my personal “Trap Icons” work, where I paint Atlanta rappers in historical paintings.
I also make silicon and plaster molds and cast candles. I’ve made AR-15 guns and pint bottle candles which were featured in 21 Savage’s Pre-show on his most recent tour.
If you had to start over, what would you have done differently?
I have never thought about starting over or doing things differently, every day is a learning experience and I truly believe everything happens for a reason. I did everything “right”, I graduated Magna Cum Laude from college but I quickly knew academia and “Nine to Fives” weren’t for me.
Graduating with the desire to work for myself and travel the world, I made it a reality. Over a year later, I can happily say I work for myself. There’s a special feeling when you have the opportunity to create and make your own schedule every day.
